"First off just turning on the washer is fun, it makes a gingle sound and is ready for you to pick your settings. It does the job well. Ive seen reviews about mold smell and everything.. but if you read the manual you will see it says to clean off the inside door and around the edging after every use. Thats exactly what you have to do to take care off it and you will have no problems. When its done washing it mak..." Read Full Review

"Purchased from Home Depot at a very good price during their Black Friday promotions. Installed for 7 days and the door sensor went bad. Part was ordered and an ETA was given for 7 days, then we have to make an appointment for the contracted appliance repair company to come out. The bad door sensor disables the washer from engaging and working at all. Washer worked well and was very easy to use until it broke..." Read Full Review

"As a mother of three boys, I am constantly doing several loads of laundry (up to 10 loads) a week. I have owned a Maytag front loader for three years (which I bought at Abt), until it broke down and died. Compared to this LG WM2501HWA, that Maytag was a piece of junk. It vibrated the entire house (the laundry room is on the first floor, and I could hear it vibrating all the way across the house on the second floor), took forever for one load to finish, and it only lasted three years (perhaps this was a blessing)! I bought this LG WM2501HWA about a month ago, and I love it. Not only is it extremely quiet (about as loud as a quiet dishwasher, even when it's spinning at whatever thousand RPM), I can hardly feel it vibrating when it's spinning, it fits a ton of jeans in one load, and it's main load (cottons) takes only about an hour to finish. It's hard to believe that I owned that piece of junk Maytag for three years. If I'd known how WONDERFUL this washing machine is, I would have switched as soon as it came out. Now that I own this LG WM2501HWA, it's no chore at all to do laundry anymore. So far, I love it, and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to buy a new front-loading machine."

"After debating for months, we finally decided to replace our 10 year old washing machine with this LG Steam washer. We thought there was nothing wrong with our previous washer, other than it used a lot of water, so we wanted a 'greener' option with steam for our allergy sensitive child. It's only been 3 full days, but this washer is amazing. It's so quiet, I have to pop into the laundry room to see if it's working. I laundered all of my 2 toddlers' winter coats, sweaters and snowsuits today in 1 load. The capacity far exceed my expectations. After researching [@] for steam washing machines, I think the LG steam washer is the way to go. I bought a different brand machine prior to researching the benefits of a steam washer and the LG brand - and canceled it prior to delivery, fortunate for me because after debating for months - this thing is awesome. Incidentally, the energy star information indicates it's $9/year to operate. Seriously - the wash tub/slop sink doesn't fill with water like the old machine because it uses such a little bit of water. It's only been 3 days - but, if we experience a change in our review, we'll update it, because everyone loves their new stuff right when they get it, as do we. Who ever complains about a new car on day 3, right?"

"The Good:
Ordered these online and got free shipping to my door (Thanks HD). The wife and I have been toiling over the purchase for a few years now. I felt bad for her as every load she did in her 6 year old Maytag became so unbalanced that it would move away from the wall! We have two young boys and Im always going through lots of clothes so she does almost a load a day. This model was not on Consumer-you-know-what but a lot of LGs were, and that was good enough for me. Im a controls engineer by trade and I have the ability to dissect electrical, electronic, and mechanical. What Im trying to say is Im very critical of major purchases and scrutinize them as much as I can. So far Ive been amazed with the set. Lets face it, dryers have not made any advances in years so I cant say anything great about the one we bought. It dries clothes, period (Ive not played with the steam yet though). The washer however is working great! I built my own pedestal as I cant see paying that much money to have a drawer that you have to bend over to use (isnt that why by buy them is so you dont have to bend over to put your clothes in? Why would you spend so much money to store stuff on the floor???) I washed the first 3 loads, first was 5 pairs of jeans (adult), zero problems (including spin cycle). Second was an oversize king-size comforter, I literally had to force it all in to shut the door. Well, it washed it but barely I cant complain though, if I had tried something that stupid with my old washer it would have exploded. The problem was it was so fluffy that the center of the comforter refused to get wet. It did however come out cleaner than it went in, but honestly if youre going to wash a circus tent, youre better off with a really BIG washer. The final load was a large load of shirts, pants, socks, etc It filled the machines cavity completely, basically a full laundry basket. I didnt have to jam this one in like the comforter though. It handled it great and the spin cycle makes clothes come out dryer than our old machine by a huge margin. The self balancing cycle works great, the machine tumbles the clothes around for a little bit and tries to spin, if it detects the load is out of balance it will stop and start again until it gets it right. Its for this reason the estimated time is just that, estimated as it stops the timer while its adjusting. My hats off to the engineers that programmed this, its pretty impressive. My final load was a bunch of different things of varying size and weight, so it took the machine a few times to get the load just right. Weve got about 10 loads under our belt and have no complaints. We did have one load that it decided to spin with a fairly high amount of imbalance, it was nowhere near as bad as our old washer was so Id say it passes with flying colors. My install is on the main floor of a moderate ranch with a basement, so I was worried about the floor. We can barely hear them running, seriously it is truly amazing!"
"So far I'm very impressed with the washer. It runs so quiet you can't hear it in the next room. I love the trays to pre-load the liquid soap, bleech, and softener, the washer will use them when needed. I also love the time indicator, it lets you know exactly when the load will be done. The washer has no load size button (at least that I know of) it spins the load and determines the weight of it and how much water to use on it's own. Everyone I have asked has had nothing but good things to say about LG as well."
"Purchased this washing machine on a Black Friday deal Nov. 2009 for [$] (unfortunately, not at ABT, as you have no locations outside of Chicagoland and I purchased it when I moved to Texas from the western suburbs). It uses SO much less water than before with my GE top loader I bought new in 2009 (which I sold to purchase this instead), and used more than half less detergent...bit of advice...only use powder detergent because the liquid detergent will clog up the machine and eventually you WILL have the stink issue that people regularly complain about online...you also should let it air out every time in between loads and wipe down the rubber surrounding, especially at the bottom of the rubber circle..if you do this, you won't encounter a bunch of the issues many other front load owners have a tendancy to complain about. I don't even have to use the tub wash setting that is included in this model, as I only use powder detergent and keep the door open and wipe it down in between uses. It's really not as much of a pain as it sounds, as you get accustomed to doing it regularly. All of this is well worth the price of the machine, and even more in the price of the amount of water you save when your water bill is sent to you...I noticed a big change in water usage between 2009 and 2010 when I sold my top loader, and I noticed even more how much I save in detergent (also, when this machine is PACKED full of clothers, I only use 1/3 from the top of what the cup that comes with the detergent tells you to use...it cleans all of my clothes wonderfully with much less than what the box of Tide tells you to use...don't go by the level 1 or 2 lines in the detergent cup... you don't need it, and if you do enough research about powder detergent and front load washing machines online, you'll find others agree with this statement too. You'll be VERY happy with the machine. Even at [$] regular price,it's worth it."
Pros:
"This is my first go with a front load washer and also with LG. I was a little intimidated with all of the electronic controls on the washer. But once I started it up it's so self explanatory that a child could use it to wash clothes. This is a great washer and my clothes and towels have NEVER been this clean. I'm impressed by how little water is used while cleaning. I'd highly recommend this washer and the accompanying dryer. The washer is a bit noisy right at the end of the final spin cycle, but I can easily live with that because of how clean everything comes out. One note: I HIGHLY recommend purchasing the washer and dryer pedestals that are available. I did not. The door is so low to the ground that it was really hard to get the clothes out of the washer. I have since received the pedestals and now it's a breeze."

Cons:
"This washer is excellent. I was leary of buying a front loader because I read about mold/mildew problems. I am following online reviews that recommend leaving the washer door open after use and allowing the rubber gasket to dry. Our basement has a dehumidifier in it and so far I haven't noticed any problems. I have used the steam fresh option frequently to steam clean some cotton polo shirts I wear to work which are not stained or heavily prespired but just worn. The steam clean function works as advertised to freshen up the clothes. The steam cycle is 20 minutes. Other cycles are are usually between 60 and 75 minutes.
Yesterday my cat "gifted" me a hairball on my bed. I have white sheets and was afraid the stains wouldn't come out. I loaded the sheets in the washer and the Cycles to Sanitary, Prewash, soil level heavy, High speed spin. Total cycle time: 2 hours 37 minutes. Wow I have never had a washer that took 2 and 1/2 hours for a cycle. I must say though that my sheets were spotless.
A nice feature is the high speed spin, laundry come out virtually dry which reduces the drying time.
As far as cleaning, my clothes have never come out cleaner, and it seems like theres less wear and tear on my clothing as compared to my top loader. The washer is silent and there are no vibrations.
There is one concern worth mentioning. This washer has a sensor which senses when the wash drum is unbalanced during the spin cycle. When the drum (or tub whatever you want to call it) begins to spin and the system senses an unbalanced load, the drum slows down and comes to a stop. It then begins to rotate in the opposite direction and then tries to spin the laundry dry dry. If it still senses an unbalanced load, the drum stops again and then changes direction again in the opposite direction to attempt to rebalance the load. This system works very well 99% of the time. However a few days after my purchase I decided to launder a single pillow. During the spin cycle the pillow was heavy and water logged after the wash cycle. When the washer tried to spin it dry the pillow would rotate with the drum and then fall from the "top" of the drum to the "bottom". The sensor read this as an unbalanced load and went thru the process of stopping and changing direction over and over. The washer display indicated 10 minutes remaining in wash cycle. It still read 10 minutes remaining 4 and 1/2 hours later. The washer was confused and trying to balance the load for 4 and 1/2 hours( at least it's persistent) I finally gave up and pulled the pillow out and air dried it.
Lesson learned: dont wash large bulky items alone, use larger loads.
Other than this single "glitch", I absolutely love this washer and would definitely buy it again."

"I originally purchased a pair of Samsung 218 Series Washer/Dryer and was very disappointed in all aspects with those units IE; Very loud, Vibrations, No Quick Wash, etc... I decided to upgrade to Steam units, but didn't want to spend a ton of money. After I did all the research (NO BLUE SHIRT ASSISTANCE) myself, I decided to go with these LG 2501 Sereis Washer & Dryer. I am very pleased with these units so far, and am impressed with the features and ease of use. I have had bad luck with Whirlpool and GE products in the past, so I think that I am officially a new LG customer for appliances from now on (except electronics)."
"I bought this machine just 2 weeks ago. I was planning to upgrade from the previous washer/dryer in the house which was ready to end its life soon, a top-loading machine left from the previous owner(s). It is a beautiful machine to look at, the buttons all light up and it has a digital display for all the stages of washing.
So far I have not had any issues, it is super quiet, ultra efficient, the features are easy to use, the drum is huge! and it uses a fraction of the water used by the other machine.
Certain features I like, like after I put my load in, I wait for the machine to tell me the weight of the load, pause the cycle and then I can add the approx. amount of detergent, softener etc. This is a money saver, but beware, use ONLY "he" (high efficiency) detergents with this washer.
The washing cycles are long if you use the regular cycle but that can be changed. Anything can be customized in terms of time, dryness, spin speeds, soil level etc. When spinning it hardly makes any noise, and the end cycle plays a cute musical tune and then the machine shuts itself off.
Overall, I am very very happy with this investment, and waiting to see if any issues crop up in the future.
The delivery was timely, smooth, very efficient and by courteous staff, they hooked up everything and gave me tips. Homedepot's prices were also great, the lowest on the net."
