"I really had done a lot of comparison for this size/type of refrigerator. As such, my first choice would have been a KitchenAid. However, it was a little more expensive and didn't come with a built-in ice maker (I could have purchased the ice maker but I would have had to install it myself - no thanks). "I have to disagree. Of the 3 refrigerators that I have owed over the last 20 years, this is by far the loudest. I even had the repairman out and he said this was normal. Every time it turns on, I can hear the clicking and popping 10 feet away and over the noise of my TV. I previously owned an Amana (didn't last 10 years!) and thought a Maytag was the answer.
