"Having owned a set of X18's for several years now, I had often wondered if I was good enough on a handicap of 17 to try the forged irons as there were suggestions that they are not suited to higher handicappers. As I did not see the point in upgrading from the X18's to the X20's the obvious solution was to try the x-forged. After taking a leap of faith a month ago, I must admit that the x-forged feels very much..." Read Full Review »

"One of many irons i've tried on the range and wanted to share my non-biased oppinion about. Like all my reviews it's just pros and cons. Pros: 1. one of the best looking irons ever. 2. Learned that custom fitting was one of the best. 3. Phil and Ernie plays it 4. Extremely workable Cons: 1. Feel wasn't that smooth. Although i hit it in the sweetspot, the feel wasn't as buttery as the Adams pro forged, or the nik..." Read Full Review »

After taking a leap of faith a month ago, I must admit that the x-forged feels very much like the X18's but with a much nicer/softer feel when struck in the sweet spot (a feeling that cant quite be described and has to be felt first hand to be truly appreciated). Needless to say, when not struck in the sweet spot, your fingers will be the first to scream for mercy on a cold crisp morning.
Overall I found the distances to be similar to my X18's despite suggestions that the x-forged were hitting longer but I suppose its one of those case by case things depending on club setup.
Accuracy was as good as my very average swing, but the x-forged were definitely more forgiving than what I was led to believe from reviews. If there are any other players out there thinking they're not good enough to move onto forged irons, this is a very good one to try out for the transition. It will provide ample foregiveness as well as letting some of the higher handicappers appreciate and get addicted to the feel of a crisply struck forged iron.
I cant speak on behalf of the other forged irons out there in the market, but if there are any golfers out there thinking about trying out forged irons but have been put off by the perception that these types of irons are only suited to the pro players out there, the x-forged is definitely worth a try."

"I have played with these a few times now and i just need to get the word out. Ok, so the first thing you notice when you hit a ball...be it a rock hard range ball or a soft DT So/Lo (you get the point) is the buttery feel you get. although they are responsive, you will feel no vibration on miss hits. they feel amazing at impact. I had (and suggest you do the same before purchase) mine fit for my specs by my pro and it was well worth it. I added a club length easily to my game, surpassing my old irons in virtually every aspect. The one point that sold me is the look at address. although i know this is highly based on opinion, the thin topline and smaller clubface is probably the greatest thing i have seen in the golf world besides those clear pink golfballs we all love to find in the woods. The clubs fly through any lie, and i love the soft forged metal. the ONLY, ONLY concern i have is that i would not want to see these pieces of paridise get dented or cut up because the metal is so soft. other than that, these are far beyond exceptional. i would recommed them to mid to low handicap players. i know high handicap players could hit them, but these irons are more for skill enhancement rather than skill development (hopefully you follow me there)."

"I used mizuno np-60's for 2 seasons and thought that they were great. That is, until I got my set of Callaway x-forged irons. They went into the bag and have never come out. They are deadly accurate and you can work the ball either way. The trajectory control is far superior to the np-60's. It was a slam dunk when I holed 2 iron shots in the first 2 rounds that I played with them. I never holed any iron shots with the np-60's. That was the clincher. Being able to point and shoot with the Callaway x-forged irons is a real treat. I would highly recommend these irons to anyone desirous of improving their games."

"Prior to last week, I thought my x18/x14 PS irons were with me to the grave. Like anyone, however, as my ball striking became more consistent I couldn't resist the temptation of flirting with a forged iron; just to see if I could hit it. Well, I did and it was love at first divot.
Admittedly, I am well on the high end of the recommended handicap range to hit this club. However, given its design (CG) the ball gets up in the air well with the 3i and has nice feel and trajectory with scoring clubs. At the end of the day, your club face will show you where you're making impact. The soft 1020 steel reveals where I am hitting the ball and I can adjust my ball position accordingly. Slowly, I am building a modest arsenal of shots; knock-downs, tighter bump and runs, etc. What's more, with the flighted 6.0 shafts, these clubs are changing my ball flight and shots now have less "curvature". Nonetheless, I can still produce my natural draw without having to overwork the swing. So yes, the workability is there; even at my current level of play.
Without question, I am looking forward to developing my game with these clubs as I march toward 80.
Good luck and keep it in the short grass!"

"Just upgraded to these clubs from a set of X-16 Pro's w/CW Rifle and I am very pleased with the feel and the accuracy of these clubs. I was advised against getting a blade club but I went ahead and did it anyway and I am glad I did. My handicap is outside of the recommended range for this style of club but they have immediately dropped my handicap by 5. I also decided to go with a Golf Pride Jumbo Tour Velvet grip on these clubs and I really like how these clubs feel in my hand with these large grips. I used to have a problem with clubs turning over in my hand but these larger grips really stop that from happening. I am going to get these grips applied to all my clubs now. I think a lot of players like me would benefit from going larger than the standard grips. Great clubs, great price, I would recommend."

"Thank you for your comment.
I, too, am an 18 handicap player and have been agonizing over the decision of whether to buy the x-forged 09 clubs. I think you've convinced me. I'll be placing my order tomorrow!!!
Thank you."
