New Model is Thinner, More Comfortable
"To the person who found their version lost its some of its loft: This isn't due to fiber breakdown, it's due to fiber clumping, which is common to most fleeces, and can be cured with a good water repellent treatment, which "unsticks" the fibers when you machine dry on LOW heat (ignore any drip-dry directions). "It's extremely comfortable and warm. However, it is not durable at all. My seatbelt wore out the fleece just driving to work. So, I won't even take it backpacking because all the straps and weight will do the same. But, it is so comfortable in the cold. Don't but it for backpacking. Buy it for cold weather...." "Ive been using Mountain Hardwares Monkey Phur for nearly 2 years to date.Probably the best base layer that I have ever utilized. Excellent fleece
"The high-loft fleece does a great job of retaining warmth, especially under a shell. Its not windproof, but Ive worn it in -5C weather(light wind and snowfall, hiking) with an ArcTeryx Gamma SV vest, and it kept me warm.
