07' foils!

★★★★★
5.0

"I had a serious freestyle accident last year here in NY.. Surgery that day, 4 screws in the head of my femur.. this happened December 30th 05' my surgeon said i could ski however my father being a doctor said "no, you have you be crazy!" well i justbought brand new 07' 1080 Foils and wanted to tear up the mountain! too tempting. I went a couple weeks ago. Skid on ice, moguls, powder, the whole deal. These Skis really perform! i had no faith in myself making it down a slick icy black diamond, but there was no turning back. Having faith in these foils got me down the Mtn! great skis to carve! they have great response and control. no chattering. perform well at high speeds, FLOAT IN THE POW! powder skiers would love them. These skis have a wide waist making it extremly easy to turn and have control. I think its almost impossible to catch an edge on these Babies. Riding switch is great, and overall I give the ski 5 stars. im headed to Jay peak VT next weekend to get some powder and cliffs in. doc thinks im crazy but if i can ski with a bum leg this well, anyone can! the price is perfect because they are well made skis and are top grade. the foils are meant for virtually anything."

    Pros:

  • Carving ability,
  • Durable,
  • Forgiving,
  • Lightweight,
  • Scratch resistant

My All Time Favorite Ski

★★★★★
5.0

"Throughout the years, I have owned around 30 + pairs of skis.

The Salomon Foil 166 is without a doubt my favorite. I'm an

expert skier who prefers powder, bumps, crud and the backcountry.

At 83mm underfoot the Foil is wide enough for flotation on powder,

yet, thin enough for carved turns and bump runs, and great for steep

terrain in the backcountry (jump turns, chutes, etc....).

The wide shovel (tip) provides an excellent platform for handling crud.

I even took this ski to do knee deep powder at Whistler, and I was

amazed. These days many people use super wide skis to float from

edge to edge on powder, but for somebody like me, who likes the "old school" way of skiing powder (sinking in, then popping back up with a hop) then Salomon Foil is perfect. This is the ski that will handle any

condition for me."

    Pros:

  • Good carving ability,
  • Good on bumps,
  • Great flotation,
  • Great on crud,
  • Lightweight,
  • Smooth ride

My Foils have never seen a park

★★★★★
5.0

"I skied 30 days on my 182cm Foils at Taos 06/07. I'm 6'5" & 200lbs. I'm not sure why everyone thinks this is a freestyle ski. It performs extremely well in steeps, powder and bumps, and Taos Ski Valley has those three in spades, often at the same time. I love this ski, and judging by the skis stashed around the patrol building at TSV, so do the hard core pros. This past week we had icy hard mornings with slushy afternoons and I brought my Bandits...but wound up spending more time on the Foils. They kept their edge in the Eastern conditions pretty darned well and were a blast in the slush."

    Pros:

  • Carving ability,
  • Forgiving,
  • Lightweight

Siiiiiiiiiiccccccckkkkkkkkk

★★★★★

"I bought these at the start of the year last year and rode 4 months on them. They are absolutely sick. They have great pop off jumps and as someone said earlier, easy to spin on the rails. They are extremely light which make grabs off kickers unreal. I highly recommend these. Powder breaks when these bad boys hit them. Trust me, I rode for 2 weeks in BC after it puked for a few days."

    Pros:

  • Good carving ability,
  • Great flotation,
  • Great switch riding,
  • Smooth ride
