Great Stroller

DON'T BUY THIS STROLLER! NOT WORTH IT!

"pros: looks like it's a good stroller cons: bulky, hard to maneuver into doorways, good for babies up to 1yr. only, no front drink holder, small basket, worst of all uses too much space in trunk, tires wore out in about a yr., bad customer service to replace tires. I bought a Maclaren stroller to replace it and costs a little more than this one but is worth it. I wish I had bought this one to begin with. t..." Read Full Review »

The basket seems an average size for the size of stroller that it is. The steering is smooth and comfortable. On the cup holder I like the rubber liner that holds the cup securely . I like the pouch on the back for my cell or camera. My daughter is five months and she looks comfortable in the straps and the seat is cushy.

Other reviewers say the fold is awkward and it is, its different from the other strollers I've had, but once you fold and unfold a few times you learn it and its fine.

I only wish I had this stroller for my first daughter!"

Love, Love, LOVE this stroller!

"I absolutely LOVE this stroller!

My previous lightweight stroller was a Snap-n-Go that the infant car seat attaches to. But recently my 6 month old daughter has begun to complain when she's strapped into her carseat for any length of time -- she can't sit up fully, and she's stuck looking at me instead of out at all the interesting surroundings.

I have a hand-me-down full-size stroller which I've used a few times, but it's big, clunky, doesn't steer all that well, and is near impossible to navigate around tight-fitting clothes isles when I'm shopping. The only plus would be its large basket.

So I set off in search of a lightweight stroller that was easy to maneuver, had a full sun shade, a cup holder for me, a nice cushioned seat for her, could recline, would fold up compactly, and had a useable (if small) basket. I also wanted something my daughter could grow into and use for a long time since I didn't want to have to buy another stroller once she got a little bigger.

I thought finding a stroller that would fulfill all my requirements would be impossible...

After doing a lot of online and in-store research, and reading lots of reviews of the Mia Moda Veloce and other lightweight strollers, I finally went ahead and placed my order. I was a little hesitant buying it online, sight unseen, but it appeared to have everything I wanted and the price was perfect. It arrived in a few days (exactly when it was projected to arrive). I opened it up, snapped on the front wheels, canopy, and cup holder and immediately knew I had made the right choice in buying this stroller.

PROS:

The Veloce is a dream to push. The foamy umbrella handles are very comfortable, and you can easily steer it one-handed. When clothes shopping, I can hang items on the handles or on the crossbar between the handles, making a separate cart or shopping basket unnecessary for most shopping trips.

The basket is a very good size for this style of stroller -- big enough for both my smaller diaper bag plus my purse -- and easy to get into (although the seat needs to be in an upright position to access the basket; not a big deal though).

The seat has 3 recline settings (4 if you lay it all the way back). It doesn't lay completely flat, but reclines enough I can change my daughter's diaper, and she can comfortably lay back and sleep. The multi-position footrest is really nice so my daugher's feet don't dangle, and makes a nice extension for changing diapers. The seat is nicly padded, has padded shoulder straps, and a great mechanism for the 5-point harness. (The shoulder straps on the Mia Moda click into each side clasp for the belt, so you only have to snap the sides of the belt together with the fastner between the legs (Two clicks). My full-size stroller has me fumbling with trying to slide the shoulder strap fastner into waist belt, hold both together and snap as one into the middle clip; repeat on other side. If my baby's being squirmy, it can take several tries to get everything lined up and snapped together; another reason I don't like my full-size stroller.)

I love the full sunshade, so if we're walking facing the sun, or if she's napping, I can extend it down and completely shade her face. When it's fully expanded, there's a nice little window at the top so you can keep tabs on your little one. The canopy has 3 sections, so the coverage can be as little or as much as you need. Most canopies I've seen only have 2 sections and don't provide complete coverage, so this was definately a nice feature. The back of the sunshade also has nice pockets for keys, cell phone, burp rag, etc.

It has a very nice cup holder, perfect for that bottle of water I seem to always drag around with me! Unlike some stoller cupholders, this one is deep, and not too wide, and has rubber grippers to keep the bottle from tipping out.

The Veloce folds up like an umbrella stroller, making it very compact. I have a 2007 Honda CR-V, and it fits under the rear cargo shelf, where not much else does! (It does take up the full width of the back cargo area, but if I slide it back under the cargo shelf, I can easily get a row of groceries (5-6 brown bags) in front of it.) Opening the stroller took a couple tries to get the hang of it (as with anything), and it was a little stiff at first, since it was brand new. It also helps to have shoes on -- when I first tried it in my living room, I was in my bare feet. You have to step down on a little metal piece by the basket to lock it into position, and it's a little hard to do with just your bare toes! Same with collapsing the stroller; you need to hook your toes on the release and pull out towards you which can also be a little hard without sandals or shoes to help. Also, when collapsing the stroller, there's a rubber handle by the basket, that if you pull up on, makes the stroller fold up easier. (I think it says that in the instructions, but I'm not one to read those unless I have to!) Once folded, there's a hook by the handle bars that connects to the front wheels to keep the stroller folded up. It's really a very easy stroller to open and collapse. You can open it one-handed (plus one foot), although I think you need two hands to collapse it.

CONS:

I really don't have any cons for this stroller, although if I was to nit-pick, I can think of three very minor issues:

1) When you collapse the stroller, the foot extension automatically gets raised up. So when you open the stroller, the footrest is always extended, and you have to manually fold it down if you have an older child who wants their feet down. A little annoying, maybe, but certainly a minor issue in comparision to all this stroller has to offer.

2) I occasionally kick at the back wheels when I'm walking. It's not a big deal for me; I just adjust my stride. I think it's because I've got shorter arms and tend to walk closer to the stroller than someone who'd have longer arms. The handles aren't adjustable, but I think most people would find the height comfortable.

3) There's no snack tray/toy bar. Actually, I'm glad there's not. The one on my full-size stroller always seemed to be in the way, and I'd leave it off anyway. If you have a younger child who needs some toys to play with, try stringing some linkable rings from one side to the other and attach toys to those. Works just as well, or even better than a tray.

Overall, I'd highly recommend this stroller. It has become my primary stroller and is a joy to use. I love showing it off to my other mother-friends. I'll only use my full-size stroller now for off-roading walks. If you're tired of the bulkiness of a full-size stroller, but not willing to cut back on features, this is the stroller for you!"

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

"If you are looking for a stroller that has the convenience of an umbrella but all the features of full-size stroller, then this is the stroller for you! So far the quality has been great, it's super easy to steer, and my 9-month-old loves it. I was hesitant to buy it because I was unable to find it in any stores to try out first, but I'm sure glad I did!"

"This stroller so far has been pretty fabulous. I wanted a light, umbrella like stroller...I did not want to spend $200 to get great features in one. This stroller fits the bill. It is [$] but has all the bells and whistles and then some of expensive models. First, a great, full, multi adjustable sun hood. Almost unheard of in an umbrella stroller. This one is huge in comparison to any other out there. It also has 4 position recline, a pretty big basket, comfy handles at a good height, folds compactly, is comfy for baby, and to top it off...an adjustable leg rest. It also has great, attractive neutral fabrics that are dark enough to hide dirt. My only complaint is that the fabric does not seem to easily come off to throw in the wash...although it looks like you might be able to do it if you just took out a few screws. Not such a big deal yet anyway. Also has a nice parent cup holder that actually holds the cup so it doesn't bounce and tip. There is also a pretty big fabric pocket (I have fit 2, 10 0z. sippy cups side by side in it and closed the flap)as well as a nice little net pocket on the back of the stroller hood. They are very handy. It has a nice 3 or 5 point harness that is easy for mom to use but not baby...preventing toddler escapes. It also is a very smooth ride and really does turn on a dime with a one handed push. It is not a one handed fold and was stiff to do at first; however, it has loosened up tremendously in the month since I have received it. Now it is a quick, albeit, two handed, fold. Locking it together with the little arm is a bit of a pain...and the little lock arm seems a bit flimsy. So far it is a minor complaint and I just intend to be careful with it. Same kind of instance with the brakes. I find sometimes they do not click right into the wheels. Although easy to push the brake in with your foot...they too seem a bit flimsy. If the wheels are not completely even the brake seems to bend and snap into one side of the wheel and not the other unless you give the stroller a little roll. Again, fine I think as long as you are mindful of them and not a huge annoyance or anything. Also, it is light...but not super light. If you intend to carry it around a lot folded up and need to be able to fold with one hand and hold a baby in the other....maybe not for you. If you want something that folds very compactly as not to take up much room in your car, is easy in airports, and is very light to push around...this is the stroller to get. Also the 2 handed fold does not bother me because I am always just opening and closing usually at my house or car. I just put the baby in the car before I fold up. Not an issue for me. I highly recommend this stroller. It is a great price with tons of features you don't usually get on an umbrella stroller. Go for it. I bought it sight unseen as well and I am glad I did it.Mia Moda should come out with accessory options for their strollers like snack cups and/or drink holders, ect...All in all a great buy!"

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

"I needed a smaller, more compact stroller for a trip to Disneyworld with my four-month old, but I didn't want to spend a ton of money. Because he's still so young, I needed a full or near-full recline. I ordered online sight-unseen and am completely happy with it. The construction seems sturdy, the fabric is very nice, and it was very easy to assemble, even though the pictures in the instruction book are tiny and kind of hard to see.

I love that the seat goes almost all the way flat so my son can sleep and the adjustable recline settings make it great for a little guy who can't quite sit up on his own. In addition, I really like that the adjustable foot rest flips up to close him in almost entirely. For younger babies, this is a really nice feature that a lot of other compact strollers don't have.

The huge sunscreen is a major plus. Fully extended, even walking directly into the sun, my baby is covered. At most, his feet might be in the sun. This is something that none of the other lightweight strollers I researched offered.

It steers wonderfully, even one-handed and is easy to get around in tight places. Turns on a dime. I occasionally kick the wheels when walking (and I'm only 5'4"), so taller people might have a problem. Though my husband, who's over six feet has done OK with it.

The only con I have found is that it's a two handed job to fold it up and secure the latch. Also the location where the latch attaches is kind of a pain because it's right under the wheel. Overall though, this is more a minor inconvenience than a major drawback."

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
