"Best thing about this vacuum is being able to clean up dust from the floors, window seat, window sills & up along the ceilings of our very old house. It also does a superior job cleaning the oriental rugs & stair runner. Sweeping, dust mops, lemon oil, Endust -- none of these allowed a good enough cleaning of floors, etc. It's also so easy to use & very light. It's possible to keep the house clean w/o consta..." "I have a lab mix dog that sheds year round. My last vacuum, a BOSCH with a power head, was great at vacuuming the dog hair off any surface, including the dog bed. I went over the dog hair on dog bed several times, tried different tools, all to no avail. Disappointed...." Read Full Review
Pros:
"Overall, this is an great vacuum cleaner with an unbeatable Miele warranty. I spent the last couple of years in Europe, so when I moved back to the US one of the first things I did was get rid of the horrendous upright Bissel to make way for the Miele.
We mostly have hardwood floors, and a bit of tile and short pile carpet. The vacuum works great on all surfaces, and I've used it on drapes, sofas and all sorts of other non-textile furniture. It is very quiet (I mostly have it on "basic mode"), easy to maneuver and the head fits under and around just about anything. And it's downright beautiful!
There are some cons, though. The cord is fairly short, meaning you can't vacuum your whole apartment without unplugging and changing sockets, and the bags are small, meaning you go through a lot of them, especially if you have pets. Also, if you have carpeting, maybe you should opt for something slightly more powerful than 1200 watts (for hardwoods it's more than enough though).
Overall, I'm very happy with the Miele Polaris. Of course I would've preferred one of the upscale models that have longer cords, more suction power and bigger bags, but for now those are way out of my budget. That being said, if faced with a choice between the Polaris and vacuum cleaner that fits all my requirements but is of a different brand, I wouldn't even think twice about sticking to the Miele."

Pros:
Cons:
"Very lightweight and quiet, but very powerful. I especially like the telescopic metal wand, convertible floor tool and all the different power settings. Makes it very easy to adjust from heavy-duty suction to more gentle for scatter rugs, drapes, etc.
I haven't had to change the bag yet, so I can't comment on that, but I'm so glad I ordered this vacuum! so easy to carry or roll around and so quiet, make it more likely that I'll keep up with the household cleaning!"
Pros:
"I had an older Miele vacuum that I gave away and replaced it with a "highly" rated Hoover. What a mistake! So, after of year of fighting with the Hoover as it was difficult to navigate and constantly needed emptying, I threw it out and went back to Miele. I never thought vacuuming could be so enjoyable, plus the exceptional filtration system has been quite helpful for my dust allergies. I will never turn my back on Miele again."
Pros:
Cons:
"I previously purchased a vacuum that was highly rated by a consumer product testing company; however, it was so heavy and cumbersome that I hated to use it. The Neptune, by contrast, is so wonderfully lightweight that it makes vacuuming the stairs a breeze and it performs well on both hardwood floors and carpeting. In fact, it picked up dirt that my former "star" vacuum missed. I love my Neptune!"
Pros:
Cons:
"You pay a little more (OK, maybe a few hundred more), but this thing was much smaller than I imagined, has great suction on hardwood floors, and is pretty quiet (you won't think it is quiet when you turn it on, but slowly you'll remember how much louder your old vacuum was....you can almost hold a conversation with this thing on). Great motion of the canister and cleaning attachment. The only downside is this that bags are fairly expensive at ~$4/each."
Pros:
"This vacuum is so lightweight and easy to pull around my hard wood floors. I also like the different suction levels, the ease of attaching the wand to the cannister.
One thing I am not so certain about is that I have already had to change the bag and it didn't seem like the usage would have filled a bag that quick. Not sure if the bags are smaller than my last vacuum and hold less....Overall I love it though!"
Pros:
Cons:
"Excellent for hard floors, you have to utilize the power selector appropriately. Carpet may be a challange for it. Execllent for quick clean-ups."
Pros:
Cons:
"This vacuum is a dream. The best thing is like all Miele's (I think) is it vents up. My old vacuum would just blow the dust around my hardwood floors causing much of the dust to become airborne. Why all vacuum cleaners haven't figured this out--I don't know. If you have hardwood floors this is a must. The suction power is phenomenal. This machine is so well built, unlike most products these days and it's also easy to replace parts even on the brushes. I treat this thing like a baby and intend to own it for a long time. PS I love the color."
