"I was ecstatic about this TV in the beginning. It had tons of features and had 1080p. Seemed great for the price! I decided to get a DLP over an LCD mainly for the price, for a comparable LCD you would only be able to maybe get a 40". After 1 year and 2 months the TV died. Would not turn on anymore and would just flash the red light when you tried to turn it on. We had a technician come and look at it and he sai..." Read Full Review »

Mitsubishi Electronics 60-Inch 1080p Flat Panel DLP Home Theater (Model #WD-60C9) Review
"I love my new TV. I'm still lukewarm on the 16:9 vs. 4:3 format - mostly because not all stations broadcast in 16:9 (which makes everything look short and fat) - but that's not the TV's fault. I was skeptical about buying a new TV because of the price, rumors of plasma and LCD burn-in issues, and hype (it's new, so of course it simply MUST be more expensive than it's worth). Apparently I've gotten my TV on the end-of-life for the model or maybe even DLP on the whole, so I feel like I got a very fair price... considering the LED and LCD models in the same screen size were more than twice the price.
The picture is crystal clear without burning into my eyes (I'm slightly red-green color-blind, so some of the new HD modes on LCDs & LEDs almost hurt sometimes). The picture from XBox and HD-DVD are astonishing, considering I'm used to a 36" analog tube TV.
I do wish the menus were a bit more user-friendly - they seem a little convoluted and take more time to load than I'm used to (with the older TVs and simpler firmware). The remote is also pretty vague in comparison to other TVs I've had. It's nice having everything right there with a separate button for each function not having to sift through menus trying to find the right area to make the adjustment you're hoping for.
I also kind of expected a little more adjustability in the TV itself. The picture format not being willing to put the black stripes on the sides for 4:3 playback, or having a format that would be normal in the middle and stretch to the outside. Again, the picture is awesome, but the experience is somewhat lost when everything looks like it's been smashed from the top-down.
Best Buy was also really good about refunding the difference in the pricing as well - I'd purchased my TV and was waiting for delivery when they dropped the price even more. I hadn't even taken possession and asked about it... they agreed to drop it to the 'new' price.
Overall, this is an excellent purchase - I'm probably being too critical over minor stuff. But the plentiful pros definitely outweigh the few cons."

Would not turn on anymore and would just flash the red light when you tried to turn it on. We had a technician come and look at it and he said it would cost 1500 dollars to fix it! That was more than I paid for it. So right now it is sitting in storage until I have time to look at it and maybe fix it myself if I can do it for a lot cheaper. Do not buy this TV, spend the extra money to get a better name brand or buy an LCD."
"If it's anything like the common Samsung power problem, it may be a capacitor or two that need higher voltage ratings. I was able to bring my DLP back to life in about 30 min."

Mitsubishi Electronics 60-Inch 1080p Flat Panel DLP Home Theater (Model #WD-60C9) Review
"I have had this TV since september of 2009. The TV is massive and I have it in a room too small for a 60" TV, so when watching regular TV it seems a little grainy, however when watching in HD, watching DVDs, or playing XBOX360, the picture is crystal clearly amazing, even when sitting only 5 feet from the screen.
I was able to hook up countless devices to this TV without problems including video game consoles, DVD player, and a VCR (I'm sentimental). My problem was hooking up my computer to this TV via the HDMI. I went DVI from my computer to HDMI on the tv and only my desktop background would show up, only the picture, none of the icons or the start menu. The sound also wouldnt transfer, instead a steady beep was emitted every 5 seconds. Online FAQ was useless and my own questions to Mitsubishi went unanswered (no response after 3 months). When contacting my computer manufactur, they said to contact Mitsubishi.
I wanted to hook up my computer so I can try the 3D capabilities out (downloaded for free) instead of buying a separate 3D majigger for a couple hundered dollars, but that seems like an unobtainable dream at this point."
"Not that you're probably reading this any more, but you probably only saw your desktop background because your computer thought you wanted to use the TV as an 'extended desktop' If you right-click the background, choose settings, and turn off extended desktop, your icons will be back."

"Product Uses:movies, hdtv, blu-ray, broadcast tv, dish network
Review:We've been waffling over an HDTV for quite some time now, and have had a blu-ray player for nearly a year with no way to truly appreciate what it can do. I had to shop for a long time and take a lot of things into consideration before I finally made a purchase. I had never seen a DLP in person, and with the time being right to buy, I bought one based on reviews here, elsewhere and on our viewing and budget needs. I'm not an electronics professional, and I don't sit around watching TV very much. I did go into the local store to see what they were offering in person and have watched a couple of blu-ray movies, some regular broadcast TV and some cable on it.
I love the picture on this TV. I didn't have to adjust a single thing for it to look right to me as far as color or contrast. It was perfect out of the box for me. This is a subjective thing, so you should at least try to see one in person as compared to LCD or plasma. It is not as bright, however, we didn't want or need something as bright as LCD/plasma. My husband mostly watches in the dark, and when I watch I have low lighting on because I am light-sensitive. An LCD/plasma supposedly has better image quality, but there is not much difference from what I can tell. You will probably want a separate sound system for a full theatre experience, but just out of the box, sound is acceptable as far as I'm concerned.
It is too deep to mount on the wall, but this was not an issue for us. My husband was able to put this on the TV shelf we already had by himself, hook up the cables and we were watching in less than 30 minutes. There are side ports for easier access, and it is very light weight even at 70 pounds. A short visit from the cable guy got us hooked up and going on hi-def cable, and he even helped us fix everything to get more local stations and make it work even better (YAY DISH NETWORK!). Scanning took a while, but you won't have to do that every single time.
The screen is more of a semi-matte finish, not a gloss. For me this is a plus--very little glare when we watch with the lights on, and fingerprints and dust aren't as noticeable. It is HUGE. Go look at a 60 inch in person--you hear 60 inches but the size doesn't register until you SEE it! I can sit at a 30 degree angle from the side of the room and watch this TV with no picture loss. Your mileage may vary. I'm more of a Sony girl than Mitsubishi, but this TV beats Sony in every category that was important to us.
Dell service and speed of delivery was exceptional. When I called with questions they were able to provide all needed information, and the carrier got it to us in one piece, and in record time.
Ultimately this TV was ideal for us because it's not as bright, size versus cost, a replaceable bulb instead of an irreplaceable screen, a gorgeous picture and it plays beautifully. I highly recommend considering this DLP HDTV if it fits your needs. WE LOVE IT."

"Review:This TV is the biggest TV available for the price. The picture quality is great and was easy to set up. I was looking at other 60" LCDs and they were more than double the price. Great Deal."

"Sounds like overall they like the tv but had some areas where they would like to see some small improvements. I think it's quite clear. I think you should think about if the problems this user found would be the same kind of thing that would bother you."
"This review was very confusing. It sounds like you don't like the TV at all. I was ready to purchase but now I am not so sure. Maybe I should consider an LCD after this review."
