"If you really want to quit smoking - and I mean REALLY WANT to quit, this is a great way to do it! It took me years of trying to quit to get to this point, so I'm not going to become one of those dreaded 'reformed smokers'. Everyone knows how bad smoking is for them, but it's a lot easier to ignore the negatives because, let's face it, Nicotine IS A DRUG. It makes us feel calmer when we're upset or nervous. It makes us feel more energetic when we're tired or bored. That's how cigarettes keep us hooked. So weaning ourselves OFF the Nicotine IS the way to go. The Nicoderm CQ Patches (not the generic or cheaper ones) are the Best! They deliver a steady supply throughout the day so you don't get the cravings and you don't feel like you have to eat anything to take the place of smoking. So weight gain is not as much of an issue. I now breathe better, have more energy and can walk further without getting tired. Be sure to follow the complete Nicoderm program & you can finally be free too!"
Pros:
"I smoked for 30 years. I have been using the patch in conjunction with an anti-depressant (Bupropion = Zyban). What a powerful combination! I have tried the patch alone (it worked well, but I was irritable - so much so I decided I didn't really want to quit if I was going to be that unhappy) and the Zyban alone (did not work at all for me). I have been using both for three weeks now and haven't had a smoke. Thoughts of having a cigarette in certain situations (like when having a drink or going out with my friends who all smoke) pop up periodically, but they only last a few seconds and I can easily go on about my smoke free day (or night). My husband still smokes and I can still hang in there without a second thought. The patch stays in place no matter what you do - swim, sweat, or shower. The only thing I didn't like too well was the patch badly irritated the skin on my arms so I put it on my hips - no problem."
Pros:
"My husband and I have been using these for a week now. LOVE IT! We were chain smokers, sitting on our back patio for hours on end, smoking and chatting. It was getting really bad. We decided to quit and were nervous about it, but it is working out fine. The cravings are all but gone for both of us, and we're loving the extra cash we have because we're not buying cigarettes. The dreams are a trip, some are strange and funny, but others are downright scary. That's a negative side-effect, but they aren't so bad that I want to stop using the patch. For all the good it is doing, husband and I will deal with the weird dreams. They also fall off with any excessive sweating (living in PHX in the summer, you sweat a lot) but they re-stick pretty well. Overall, I'm super pleased. I just wish the glue was a bit stronger. I totally think we are going to be successful because we were ready to quit and we used the patch. If you're ready too, try these patches!"
Pros:
"I used the patch to force myself to stop smoking, but I was READY TO QUIT. If you're not, nothing will work. If you are, the patch will do two things for you if used properly:
1. It breaks the habit of reacting to your cravings. With gums and lozenges, like cigarettes, you react to cravings to satisfy them. With the patch, there's nothing to do but go on with life. (For really bad moments, I found popsicles to be an excellent cigarette substitute.)
2. It reduces the cravings from homocidal urges down to passing thoughts. This makes #1 above easier.
The patch made me extremely nauseated, though, and the only reason I could use it for several weeks is that I was already unemployed. If I had been required to go to work, I would have been buggered. Not everyone reacts this way, though. It's definitely worth a try."

Cons:
"Yes, I really needed to quit, I'm 38, and after 25 years of smoking, it seemed unthinkable to to do so. But trying to walk up a small hill, and feeling like I was going to pass out and die, was a wake up call. I bought Nicoderm CQ Step 1 that same week. I have not had a cigerette since. Did it kill my cravings right away? ...No. But, I didn't go stark raving mad without the cig's. I found myself reaching for where I kept them (ontop of the fridge) plenty of times. Good thing I threw them out the second the patch went on. I gained weight. Almost so much that I had to rethink which health issues seemed worse. The weight gain depressed me quite alot, this is where you weigh the pro's again of quitting. Healthy lungs, whiter teeth, risk of heart attack lowered, better skin, you don't stink, etc. Nicotine is from what I understand, an appetite suppressant, so your metabolism is way off track, and it's trying to become 'normal'. When you go crazy wanting to eat, try frozen fruits, or small snacks throughout the day; I put snack packs together; turkey breast, turkey pepperoni, carrots, a granola bar, grapes. Also try teeth whitening strips. Seriously. When you get those horrible urges to eat, slap whitening stips on. As vain as it seems, whiter teeth is a plus to quitting! Can't eat when you have those things in your mouth anyways, right? I am on step 3 now, and almost completely nicotine free. My family is so proud of me, I am happy and healthier on the inside, just wish I would have done it sooner!"

Cons:
"I am shocked. I have been a pack to a pack and a half a day smoker for the past 10 years. I have tried other smoking cessation products without success. I felt trapped in my addiction - literally. I started using this about 4 weeks ago and I have not smoked since. The first two weeks were a little tough, but not horrible. I did not think anything would work. This product has helped tremendously. I am really looking forward to a smoke free future now. Two more weeks and I move down to a lighter patch! I physically feel so much better. I can breathe easier and my skin and teeth look better. You can quit with this, too! What a relief!"
"**Important info. DO NOT cut these types of patches down to smaller sizes as they will not work and you will get nearly no medicine. I learned the hard way. Otherwise always chose a brand name patch, generics have been shown to contain less than stated amounts. Use this along with a 12 week program such as Cooper-Clayton or at least get their booklet online for the price of a cheap carton- the info is priceless! I am 1 year smoke free using the Nicoderm patches and never Ever thought I could go a week. DO IT!!!"
"It is very expensive and sometimes tricky to put on.
But it's great for ex-smokers who can't kick the nicotine habit. It can be used indefinitely. I can't use it at night because I get wild and disturbing dreams, the instructions mention this."
Pros:
"These do help control your cravings - because the patches are delivering all the nicotine you need. Finally I caught on to this after trying to quit with these multiple times: these keep you in nicotine, BUT in a slow torturous state of physical nicotine withdrawal for many weeks. Desperate for relief, I would finally light up again. if you quit cold turkey, your physical withdrawal lasts three to four days. Read Allen Carr's book - his book is cheaper than these patches, it does not drag the process of quitting on for months, and its a lot healthier than receiving more nicotine into your body for several weeks.
If people have actually quit using these, kudos to them! They probably succeeded in spite of, not because of, this product."
