"I have had this lens for about a year and always have great success with it. It is fast enough to capture great shots in low light and motion just stops with the click of the shutter. I also enjoy using it for macro work. Lots of detail. The price is high, but this is a great quality and highly durable lens. I have even dropped it from about waist level on rock in Moab, UT and it doesn't even have a dent or..." Read Full Review »

"I have been photographing insects and saw many great reviews about this lens. Until this one, I have been using SIGMA 70mm Macro, which works great. The problem with SIGMA was that I had rather high failure rate because of low shutter speed, or apature that blurs everthing. So, with VR, I thought it may help. Meantime, I also saw other review that VR might not help much with close-up photographing. Well, so..." Read Full Review »

The price is high, but this is a great quality and highly durable lens. I have even dropped it from about waist level on rock in Moab, UT and it doesn't even have a dent or scratch on it, though I might have grown a couple of grey hairs and had a mini heart attack in the process.
In my opinion, it is worth the price."

"A pricey but phenomanal product! Use it as a short telephoto, or go 1:1! Although I have not fully exercised the VR feature (I still use tripod and "Cable release" for macro work) I have been totally pleased with the full CPU functionality of this lens. I am a convert (or convict) of the Nikon "F" bellows extenstion days, and appreciate not having to do the extra math! (Yes that was "F", not "F-1", not "F-2"... )"

"I got this lens based on the recommendation of a 35 year photo-pro. He talked me into getting this lens over the 85mm f/1.8. It's not as fast as the 1.8, but it takes phenomenal pictures. My only downside is that since it's a micro/macro lens that your more distant shots loose a little depth of field. Nonetheless, the bokeh on anything--and I mean anything-- less than about 15 feet is amazing.
As a relatively new photographer, this lens has me taking pictures of just about everything I see. I'm still looking for a wider portrait lens but I wouldn't trade this one for anything. The VR is a nice addition for all the shots of insects and stuff I find myself shooting on the fly.
I had a hard time picking just 2 pictures to represent how much fun this lens is. One of my first is of an ant in the grass and a praying mantis outside my front door. Did you know ants had hair on their butts?"

"This lens will give you sharp macro photos. Just switch to manual focus if you are having difficulty focusing on subject."

"This is one of the best lens I've purchased. It is by far one of the sharpest lens I currently own. It is well worth the costs. It allows 1 to 1 ratio and is the best I've seen for macro photography. Works quickly and easily. It is also great for portrait photography. You have to be a few feet back for length shots, but the sharpness can't be beaten. It is a little heavier than most lens, but definitely makes up for it in its performance."
