"I bought 2 air mattresses, 1 for myself and 1 for my daughter. Mine was Northwest Territory, hers Swiss Army. We had so many problems with hers, while mine was wonderful. I eventually bought a NW Terr. mattress for her, but the quality was far less than the one I had. First, they changed the thickness of the mattress, the new one was much thinner than mine. Second, they changed the size, it is no longer comparable to a regular spring mattress, it's smaller. It's obvious when your sheets are a little too big. Last and worst, they changed the spout. The older "bubble" spouts were excellent at keeping air in, and extremely easy to inflate. The new spouts are much harder to inflate - unless you leave the nozzle off - and are near impossible to close without losing about 25% of the air you just put in.
Last year I swore by Northwest Territory, this year I'm afraid I'll never buy another thing from that company.

"This was worst mattress we ever purchased. We got two of the queen ones as it was on sale & we needed spare ones in the home to accomodate guests including my parents. The very first day, the mattress was down on the floor in a few hours due to air leaks. my husband tried to sleep on one & my father on another & they had to pump air into it the whole night, so much so that no one in the house slept that night & we had an important function next day. And the air pump was an additional expense. This is an utter waste of money & I would never recommend this to anyone. Even if you have to pay more, please go for a known brand rather than ones like these purchased just for the price. Its total waste of money."
"The valve on the Northwest Territories Airbed is extremely poorly designed. There are three places it can leak, and it is just a matter of time before it does. Those who have said that it worked fine for a night or a weekend should give it two weeks, and see if they are still happy.
The problem, in a nutshell, is that there is a gasket between the threaded portion and the inside fitting. If you don't tighten it enough, it leaks through the threads; if you do tighten it enough to prevent that, you crush the gasket, which then leaks. I've been thinking a rubber cork/stopper might work to fix it, or perhaps supergluing, which would destroy it if it fails.

"I bought it to use on my bed since the ancient mattress I had was like sleeping on a rock. My mom suggested an air mattress & when she saw it was on sale at a great price, I got it. It was a great improvement until it started leaking air, & then got tiny holes on the seams of two of the coils that were right next to each other. My mom's mattresses are a different brand & she's had them for years with no problems. I've only had mine a little over a month ( just past the warranty...it figures). I will spend the money on a better brand next time."
"I just read all the reviews and I don't get it. We purchased a queen size mattress for camping. My 300 lb. husband and I slept on it all weekend. We found it to be very comfortable and it did not leak. In the morning we needed to add some air, but only because it had stretched during the night. We were never sleeping on the ground. I thought it was a great deal for only $20!"
"We bought 2 of the queen sized mattresses because they were on sale. What a waste! Like the other 2 reviews. they lose air and unless you enjoy being on the floor when you wake up, then PLEASE dont buy one of these. We are going to invest in 2 Coleman mattressees. At least we know they will hold up and we will not wake up on the floor!"
"before i purchased this in store, i checked to see what kind of valve it had, and noticed that the actual valve wasn't there, just a threaded hole. i had wrongfully assumed that it would be in the box, but when i got home it was nowhere to be found. luckily, the one i was replacing had the same style valve and it fit"
"The worst mattress I ever had. The thing was down on the floor by next day. I believed it has build in air leaks. And I did not know there was no air pump with it, until late that night. Thank GOD Va. Beach Kmart is open 24 hours a day. So I had to go and buy a air pump.
Well you get what you pay for!!!"
"The mattress did not require batteries to inflate. The manual pump could be operated by hand or by foot. My nephew found it to be comfortable to start out the night, but it lost enough air so that he was partially on the floor by morning. My son tried it the next night and had the same problem."
