"I love taking pictures. Especially the ones that capture the moment. I've owned this camera for almost 6 months, and I wish I never bought it. I owned the pentax opti 20w and it was the best camera I've ever owned! The first one I owned was the opti 10w, it was lost, the second opti 20w fell about 20 feet from the sea wall on to rocks into the water. That's what did it. Pros:
Okay okay, we get it. You LOOOOOOOOVE this product.
"I love this camera.. I love to travel but I hate to travel with expensive gear, this camera takes amazing pictures ANYWHERE. I have taken it skiing, kayaking, snorkeling, hiking, rock climbing, and to my friends wedding and have always been able to capture the moment. I decided I needed a ruff camera like this when I was in Mazatlan Mexico last year and we got stuck in a horrible hurricane, it was raining so hard and street signs where down and all I could think about is that with all this wild weather is going on and I cant take any pictures! it was a horrible feeling! when I got back I researched waterproof cases and a sales person at [...] in Portland Oregon told me that for the same price as the water proof case I was looking at I could just buy the Olympus stylus SW camera. Best decision ever.. I always have this camera on me, and I never have to worry about that, before I was always inhibited by the fact I always have a camera on me.. now its like It doesn't matter, chances are if this camera cant make it where I'm going.. I shouldn't be going there! I have traveled to 3 countries now with this camera and been able to take thousands of pictures with it.. its compatible with my ipod video so I can dump all my photos. I could go on and on about all the amazing places I have been able to take this camera and would never have been able to take pictures there if not for this camera, I would never have imagined taking my old camera to the beach.. let alone into the ocean! Super durable great for a family with kids or a traveler who doesn't want to think about whether their equipment will get damaged, and that piece of mind when traveling is priceless.. No more "I can't I have my camera" anxiety. I recommend this camera to any one who plays ruff and is tough on their gear because good luck breaking this camera!"
Pros:
"I can't say enough about this camera. I purchased it for the waterproof capability, though I never thought I could take such GREAT shots. POSTCARD QUALITY. BELIEVE IT! I used the SCN setting a lot for available light (I hate a flash) and other situations and that feature helped tremendously. Even the video clips come out great! [...]"
Pros:
"I think the BEST feature of this camera is the ability to take picture underwater! I have to admit I was a bit skeptical but it worked, no damage to the camera. The photo quality is as clear if not better than any other disposable underwater camera I have used."
Pros:
"I had the great good fortune to go to Palmyra Atoll for The Nature Conservancy. While on the atoll, I took over 4500 pictures. The quality was outstanding! I also used it in the ocean a few times with out adverse affects. [...]"
Pros:
"This camera is worth EVERY penny and much more.
Instead of buying a less expensive camera that will last you a year or so or until you get it wet or drop it and it breaks...buy this one!
It is water proof up to 10 feet and I have given it some really hard drops since I bought it...yeah...I'm a clutz...but this camera just refuses to break!
The screen is super rugged and will not crack due to sudden temperature changes...as my Canon did...
The video mode is excellent...no more need for a separate video camera at all.
You basically get a high quality, very durable camera and video camera in one small, light, attractive, easy to use case.
This will be the best, longest lasting, camera you have ever owned if you buy this one."
Pros:
"I also have a Digital SLR, and, while this camera isn't perfect, nor worthy of replacing an SLR (I mean, really, how COULD it?), it perfectly fills the nitch for which it was intended. I put it in a bag of water (while filming) and shook the bag VIOLENTLY, and it took it would like it was nothing. There weren't even any drops of water on the lens after I took it out of the water! I also separately ordered Olympus' red floating strap to make sure it never goes below 10 feet under water. I also like the Fine Zoom feature where instead of saving a 7 megapixel image and trying to digitally enhance the "jaggies" from a digital zoom, it takes the highest digital capture resolution and crops it to save the cropped version of the image (eliminating the guesswork involved in a digital zoom).
I definately recommend the camera to anyone interested in digital pictures in a hazardous environment but are sick of taking truly lousy pictures from disposable sport film cameras."
Pros:
"Rugged, all weather construction and small size make it perfect to take anywhere. Unobtrusive - live your urban photojournalist fantasy! Controls and menus are well designed and easy to learn. Fits comfortably in LowePro DPod 20 case. Use with Joby Gorillapod minitripod for low light and macro photography. One drawback: Fixed aperture (f3.5 at most focal lengths) limits creative control."
Pros:
"It is my almost first digi-cam after carrying a sony cybershot 10 years ago (LOL) and switched to dvd cams, so I don't know my review helps you or not.
I purchased this because I do surf and go to beaches quite often and I want to record my activities.
I purchased this a few days ago, and went out to shoot in snow. It worked perfectly despite of the temperture. Also, I handed this camera to a child, and he did not have any problem handling this camera. My aunt also take pictures of me at my birthday party yesterday, and she had no problem either in a dark place.
Therefore, it is very user-friendly.
The colors are also nice. Pink looked like a razor, so I bought this yellow one."

But, other than that it took ALOT of beatings! I figured I'd try to olympus 790sw. Read alot of great reviews, so I went for it. It's nice, but I wouldn't suggest it for anyone who is looking for a user friendly point and shoot. Pictures aren't as clear. Audio on the video, very poor. The pentax's video audio was so much more clearer!Worse of all the LCD on the olypus was so fragile! Mine cracked just keeping it in my purse."
