"I bought that lens when it came out in May and never regretted it.Those Limited are superb lenses!A 35mm as a Macro lens looks like you will be close to your subject...yes ,so you can't do all kind of Macro (insects),but other than that it's very usable.Even for landscape it's a great lens, you will not regret buying it,now i want the other Limited...Pentax bring more lenses like that!"

Pentax 35mm DA* F/2.8 Macro Lens Review

"I have used Pentax equipment for 30 years. When I heard that they were coming out with a 35mm Macro Limited for their digital sensor cameras I wondered who would ever buy this lens.
However, the more I thought about it the more I was intrigued with the potential uses for this lens. Yes, it could be used for 1:1 macro, but to me the practicality for such utilization is not all that practrical...though it is doable. It is in the natural close focusing ability of the lens and its superior performance and optics that make it such a versitile lens.
The image field is flat and without distortions. Color is richly intense with outstanding saturation and excellent contrast. CA's do not appear to be present and certainly are not field relevent. The all metal barrel is impeccably built and modest in size. AF is exceptionally fast and accurate even without a limiter. Manual focus is true and the focusing ring is perfectly dampened. The pictures from this lens are among the finest I have ever seen produced from any lens by any manufacturer.
Owning all the FA and DA Limiteds, I have to rank this as perhaps the best lens in the Limted series so far. I do believe that this will be one of the lenses that becomes a legend in its own time. Absolutely first rate manufacturing."

Pentax 35mm DA* F/2.8 Macro Lens Review

"I'm a keen macro shooter and I love the quality of the Pentax limited series. I also like fast primes, and I like a reasonable "normal" length for everyday use.
This lens is a fantastically useful length at 35mm, giving you a "standard" lens on a digital SLR. It's fast at f2.8. The quality is everything you expect from a Limited lens - super sharp with very high contrast, low flare and high build quality.
And then it's a macro, and a good one at that. Plus it has a lovely built-in lens hood.
This lens is a killer. I had a 40mm Limited before this, which is non-macro. This 35mm is just as good, but a bit larger, and does macro."

Pentax 35mm DA* F/2.8 Macro Lens Review

"The DA 35/2.8 combines exemplary build quality with a versatile FOV and macro capability. The lens is reasonably fast, and my admittedly subjective assessment is that the DA 35 is optically in the same league as the other DA Limiteds (all of which I own) - although perhaps a notch or two below the terrific DA 40.
Frankly, since I think the focal length of the lens is inconveniently short for dedicated macro shooting, I believe the DA 35 is best suited to general use with the option of smooth close focusing when the need occasionally arises. Note that macro, which has no focus limiter, does bring a couple of drawbacks; although normally fast and precise, focusing can be tentative under low light and other conditions in which focus lock is easy to miss. Also, the lens is not particularly light compared with other DA Limited primes; at 215 g (almost half a pound) the DA 35 has over twice the mass of the DA 40 (90 g) and even slightly outweighs the fast and very sharp FA 35/2.
Still, minor quibbles aside, I think the DA 35 is a remarkably versatile lens which will be in my bag most of the time."
