"I use these pencils to take notes during school, but I have to refill them quickly. I tend to press harder when taking tests so these pencils are impractical during test-taking circumstances, as the pencil may run out of lead just when you need it most. The pencil works well for note-taking, because highlighter glides smoothly over the writing and the lead from the pencil won't fade from the page like many competitors will. "I have yet to find the perfect mechanical. I've tried many different types and brands. I keep coming back to the Pental Twist-Erase. I like how long the eraser rubber is; on some brands the eraser is just too small. I don’t want to deal with a separate cap. The grip is comfy. It’s easy to extend more lead by squeezing your thumb against the barrel and compressing it. You don't have to reposition your grip to extend the lead. Reliability is average. They don't last for ever. They are sensitive if you drop them on the tip, if you do they never work right again. I keep a few of them on hand and when they stop working satisfactorily pick up a new one."

"This is my favorite pencil. It's extendible eraser is long lasting. The pencil holds the led firmly in place, so when I am writing, the led doesn't move around. It is excelent for small writing and details. It's only bad thing is that because the led is small, It uses the led quickly. However the small led allows for detailed writing."

The pencil line is sharp with a 0.5 mm lead and the large retractable eraser works well and lasts a long time. Most importantly, the lead advance mechanism is durable and lasts for years, whereas most most mechanical pencils become inoperative after about one year of hard use."
