"I bought this as an alternative to walking when our Colorado weather is icy and slushy, and to have on hand when I want a quick workout and don't have time to go to the gym. It works well for that, although you shouldn't expect a complete and satisfying workout from this alone. I combine with some free weights to "fill in the gaps." Pros:
"Was easy to set up, did it myself. This was not my first stepper like this - i had the Tony Little stepper years ago. I got it because my sister had one and looked like a swimsuit model after using it everyday for 3 months. I loved it. BUT... The Tony Little broke after one year, I literally stepped it to death. One of the steppers just separated from the base, like someone sawed thru the metal. I was so sad because I used it everyday & it was discontinued. -
So i did a major web search a few years later and found the Denis Austin - it seemed to be IDENTICAL to my old Tony Little. Now, I have had this 2 years and have not had breakage. BUT I always ask my husband not to get on this one, I am afraid if a heavier person uses it (hes 225), maybe it would break like the last one, since its similar design. I just don't want aded use to it, other than me. Call me selfish (I'm about 135 lbs.).
Its compact, easy to drag around to use in front of different TVs in your house and you can make it as easy or hard as you like.
And honestly, if it ever does break, I have had it 2 years already... the price was fine, I'll just get another. My sister in law tried mine & begged for it as her Xmas present- so I got her one too,
When I use it as much as I should - i get great muscle tone in my legs. Its a great work out if you like to do cardio in the privacy of your home. I also have a treadmill so I switch on and off between the 2 machines. Hope this helps. sorry for any spelling errors - rushing, trying to leave my office. Happy Friday!"
Pros:
"This is the second one of this particular stepper that I have owned. I bought my first one several years ago (7 or 8) and it was great until it finally gave out. I looked all over to find the exact one again because I had liked it so much and had such good luck with it. I love that the tension is adjustable and that the steps start at a neutral position instead of at an incline. My mom has one that does not have either of these features and I DO NOT like it!!! I use this in the evenings when my family is watching TV together. I can get an additional workout in and still be a part of my family communication and activities. The users dictates how hard of a workout you get by the level of tension used, the speed of stepping and if you use arms in addition or not. A good buy. I would definitely recommend this stepper."

"I bought this as an alternative to walking when our Colorado weather is icy and slushy, and to have on hand when I want a quick workout and don't have time to go to the gym. It works well for that, although you shouldn't expect a complete and satisfying workout from this alone. I combine with some free weights to "fill in the gaps." It is very compact and really easy to put together and use right away. The level of resistence is limited on the steps, and there is almost no resistence at all for the arms, so the claim of the upper body workout is a little unfair. I use weights instead of the arm levers provided and that works much better. The steps are very close together making it a little uncomfortable for long workouts, but it's not gruelling. I don't regret buying this at all - it's great to whip out and use when you're short on time. Just don't rely on it alone for your fitness or weight loss."

Cons:
"I have had this stepper for well over four years and I use it frequently. I usually do around 30 to 45 minutes every other day. I have a pair of hand weights and with those and the attached rubber tubing, I can get a really good cardio workout. Every once in a while, it can be a little noisy, with a slight grinding or squeaking sound. However, it is not enough to be distracting and usually can be made to lessen or disappear if one stops and lifts each step by hand to its highest point (being careful that the pulleys do not slip off their guide wheel. Occasionally, I take a few drops of WD40 oil and lubricate the hydraulic lifts and the pulley gear. All in all, this is a great fitness product if one wants to get a decent cardio workout privately while watching TV, listening to the radio or their MP3 player. I definitely recommend it."
Pros:
Cons:
"I have both copd and emphysema, I also have broken my back and have two rods and sixteen pins, Do to these things I cannot use a lot of exercise equipment, or do exercises, such as sit ups or getting down on the floor, or any movements that include lifting bending or turning. The mini stepper is low impact, and it is a way to exercise both my upper and lower body. I do only as many repititions as I can. Also I am disabled and have a limited income, I checked into treadmills, but I found them to be expensive, This was a reasonable alternitive. With my breathing problems I cannot do regular walking as temperature extremes such as hot or cold air cause me breathing difficulty. This is ideal, and it's up to you how difficult you make it, do to your ability."
Pros:
"The stepper is easy to use but the hydraulics and the fly wheel are moderately noisy. I was surprised at how sturdy the stepper is. I find that it is stable. My sister also bought one on my recommendation. Her fly wheel is loose and she cannot tighten the bolt to adjust the fly wheel tension."

Cons:
"I had a little trouble getting the electronic box hooked up, but I don't really use it much anyway. The only issue I have is that I cannot get the handle bars to tighten up much. They work well to help me keep my balance and keep my upper body moving, but they don't offer any resistance. They lay flat on the floor out of my way when I want to switch to hand weights. I had to adjust the foot pedals a few times until I had them tight enough so I didn't "bottom out" when I stepped, but once I got it adjusted correctly, I don't have to make any adjustments. I just pull it out and step in front of the TV. I am very happy with my new stepper and the price."
Pros:
"The stepper is part of a routine of excercises I do daily. It's a very good low impact workout, but after 200 steps, the tension bands loosen up and the stepping gets easier. The arm component offers no real benefit, except to move your arms back and forth. I do like having them there to hold onto for balance, but there's no resistance in moving them. I have noticed a change in my thighs and buttocks areas and I credit this to the stepper. For the price, it is adequate as a piece of home workout equipment. It doesn't take up much room and the arms fold down for storing it in a closet."
Pros:
"This machine is great for the low cost. It was easy to put together; the only thing I had a bit of trouble with was connecting the computer box wire to the machine. It wouldn't fit properly at first but I eventually got it.
It doesn't take up a lot of room but it is not foldable so the poles are a little awkward in my living room but it's not a real big deal.
It's very easy to use and I have it in front of my T.V. so that makes it easier to just hop on it. I hate exercising but this is a pretty easy and painless way to get my thirty minutes a day in."
