"I purchased the full-sized version of this for my elderly mother about a year ago . She was moving into a retirement community and her queen-sized bed was too big for her new bedroom. I was impressed by the degree to which this headboard pretty much "matched" her existing (and quite expensive) solid maple bedroom set. Very nicely finished. My mother will now be moving back with us, and has decided she wants to..." Read Full Review

"The headboard is the piece of furniture we wanted for our 11-year-old's room. It was easy to put together except for one MAJOR thing. The hole on the top wurface piece were drilled ON THE WRONG SIDE of the board! [...]we went ahead and worked around the problem, but I think that is a significnt error on the manufactuer's part...." "We bought this for our 4 year old son and it looks cute in his room. However, there is a reason this is an inexpensive product. It is difficult to put together...took my husband 4-5 hours and he is EXTREMELY handy. Holes did not line up properly and when he had to pound sections to get them to attach, the veneer breaks through VERY easily. He ended up having to gorilla glue a bunch of sections, because it was so flimsy, we were afraid it would fall apart if our son jumped or climbed on it, which a 4 year old may do, whether we want them to or not.
The saving grace is the price and that it IS cute for a little boys room. Lots of room for books and toys, etc... If you do buy this, enjoy it for the now, because it is definitely not a product that will last for years and years. We figure if we get 2 years out of it, then it was worth the money. I can't honestly recommend this product for someone wanting to make an investment in good, long-term furniture. I should have listened to other negative reviews I read, because they are correct. But, if you are on a tight budget, have a very patient and handy person, with lots of tools at their access, to put this together and only plan on keeping it for a few years, than it is an okay choice."

"Having read earlier reviews of the Black Sonoma Bed, we were prepared to touch-up the finish and repair lamination issues. NOT SO PREPARED when we pushed the bed up against the bookcase headboard and find out that the bookcase trim interferes with the under-bed storage drawers.
We had to pull the bed away from the bookcase so that we could use all the drawers! This left the bookcase less secure against the wall. Our daughter LOVES the bookcase storage and she loves the color and sophisticated look. I would recommend with reservations. Be prepared to make adjustments of your own."

"I purchased this headboard for my teenage sons bedroom. He saw it in a magazine and really liked the looks of it. The assembly went pretty smoothly, it just took a while. It would have gone faster if they would have had a little sticker on the boards labeling them A, B, C, D etc. At a distance the head board looks great. But I was disappointed to see the glue line along the edges on most boards. We purchased the black version. They may not show up as much on the lighter color head boards. I ended up using a black permanent marker on some of the edges as well as on the edge of the board that is nailed across the back. You could see the edge of this board from the top and side, so it looked white against the rest of the black. I just ran a black permanent marker along the edge [making sure not to get any on the top or side boards, as it would show the mark]. We have not set it up in his room yet, because we are still readying the walls to be painted."

I was impressed by the degree to which this headboard pretty much "matched" her existing (and quite expensive) solid maple bedroom set. Very nicely finished.
My mother will now be moving back with us, and has decided she wants to further down-size, to a twin, which I'll be purchasing today. The original full-sized will go to the guestroom.
All in all, a very good value, sturdy and stable. Assembly was easy, and the only problem I encountered was my fifteen year old's overly enthusiastic use of a power tool, which was certainly NOT CSN's fault. Even so, the screws held their own and did not strip, for which I will be eternally grateful.
In fact, if memory serves, the screws are solid brass, a nice surprise on something in this price range."
Pros:
"I moved into a VERY small apartment. I found the Prepac line and ordered the queen bed frame with the drawers under it... that came and worked so well, I ordered the bookcase/storage unit to go over an existing desk. That worked very well too, so I got the headboard.[...]The instructions were clear and easy to follow for anyone that has ever put together furniture before... all went together very nicely and looks great - especially for the price!Order up... you won't be disappointed!"
Pros:
"Was disappointed with the quality of the headboard. I understood that this was a "veneer" product, however, pieces arrived scratched, holes were not all drilled to correct size, and the wood and veneer split when inserting pins. The shelves had excess veneer that was peeling off from the wood.
After many "glue spots" and shims, the headboard looks decent enough for my child's room. I guess you get what you pay for.
I have ordered these types of furniture pieces before (self assemble) and have been pleased with the outcome. Sonoma obviously needs to improve their workmanship."

Cons:
"The product did exactly what it was advertised to do; it was functional and compares favorably in appearance with comparable products costing lots more money. It was easy to assemble, and is a sturdy piece of furniture."
Pros:
"We upgraded my 11 year old sons room from a twin bed to a queen. It was a great alternative as my sons bedroom set has been discontinued. It matches very nicely. He already had a bookcase headboard and wanted the same thing. We are very happy with it. I put it together with ease, but I do wish the bolts were included that connect the headboard to the mattress frame. Most frames are sold without bolts. Other than that, we are very happy. It actually makes his room look bigger."

Cons:
"Just what I was looking for! Lots of space to put all that extra stuff we had around our bed. Sturdier than I imagined & looks very nice. Hubby did nick it up in a few places pounding in the nails (& I suspect screws), but I can't really blame that on the product. I would have liked a little more variety in style, but this doesn't go too bad with what we have. For the price it can't be beat & it is serving its purpose very well. I'd buy it again."
