"I have used white strips in the past with great results. The only problem with them is the time it requires. I first bought this product a few months ago for my boyfriend who has bad teeth. I knew he would not keep up with the white stripes so the 2 hour idea sold me on it. I saw no change in the color of his teeth. My teeth are not as white as I would like them to be so I got it as a touch up. It was uncomforta..." Read Full Review

"I've tried almost every OTC whitening product I could get my hands on since I'm a dedicated coffee drinker and a smoker. This is the only product that has given me the beautiful white smile I've been looking for AND removed a few tar stains that have plagued me.
Before actually using this product I read through literally hundreds of reviews, so I was a bit tentative to try it out. But in the quest for a brighter and more beautiful smile, I decided to be brave. Let me just say, that the other reviewers are correct: if you use this product EXACTLY as the directions say, it CAN be an utterly painful and miserable experience. I did two separate attempts at using this product, so I will break them down.
FIRST ATTEMPT: I followed the directions on the packaging exactly. Molded the trays, spread as thin a layer as possible into the trays (used only one ampule for both trays, as there is PLENTY of gel), and settled in for some beautification. After about 5 minutes, my gums were on fire, I was drooling like a rabid dog and could taste the gel that was oozing out of the trays. But I stuck it out for the allotted 20 mins, rinsed and rested for the 10 minutes afterwards. My mouth was on FIRE!! I steeled my nerves and went in for the second session because I was a brave girl after all. This time I tried thinning the gel a bit onto the trays with a q-tip (as another reviewer had suggested), and settled in for my second 20-minute stint. Yeah, I only lasted about 12 mins before I could take the pain no more. I rinsed my mouth out, shoved the rest of the product under the sink, took some ibuprofen and called it a night. The next morning, my lips were swollen, my gums & teeth were SO sensitive & I felt like an utter failure.
Fast forward two weeks. SECOND ATTEMPT: Staring into the mirror this morning & longing for those elusive pearly whites, I dug out the rest of the product I had hatefully shoved under the sink and sat down for a bit of a "talk" with the trays. I trimmed up the trays (as another reviewer had suggested) so that they were no longer ANYwhere near my gums. Then I rubbed some Vaseline on my gums to try to keep the gel completely away from my wary gums (yet another suggestion on review boards), and then I dug through my makeup brushes and found an unused lipstick brush. I applied the gel in a VERY thin layer, but completely covering each tooth, with the lip stick brush & then inserted the trays. Then the wait. 20 minutes later, removed the trays, rinsed and surveyed the pearlies. YES! They were whiter! And my mouth did not hurt! Onward! I completed the entire 2 hour process with no sensitivity, no pain, and no misery.
RESULTS? Beautiful, white teeth! I have wanted these pearly whites for years! And the best part? Using this method, I was able to only use ONE ampule of gel for the entire 2-hour process ensuring that I can do touch-ups as needed another 6 times. Oh, and the tar stains? Gone. Completely gone! I just brushed my teeth after the last 20 minute session, and the tar stains literally disappeared from my teeth!! So the lesson here is simple...if you just follow the standardized directions, you may or may not have a pleasant experience. It may even wind up being a miserable experience. But, with a little ingenuity and patience you can have fabulously beautiful teeth too. Proceed with caution, but I would recommend this to anyone..."

"Let me preface that I've used whitening trays from my dentist since I was 16, so I've had experience with strong, expert performing, tooth whitening products. Also, my teeth were pretty white to begin with, but needed a little touch up.
I bought this product while strolling around the drugstore, well before I read any review about it. Before using, I checked the reviews online and of course was a little nervous about "severe pain" "pustules on gums" and "excruciating sensitivity". In the end, the people who experienced these side effects should never use any whitening products, because your teeth are definitely overly sensitive or thinned enamel. When bleaching teeth, you will pretty much ALWAYS experience slight sensitivity, but when it gets thats extreme please... put down the whiteners and don't ruin others opinions about good products.
When I used this product I followed the directions except when it came to the amount of gel used in each tray. The directions say "1 ampule per tray" but it was WAAY too much gel and went all over everywhere. Split 1 ampule between the top and bottom trays and spread thinly and evenly with a Q-Tip- Do this for each of the 4 applications and your teeth will be REALLLY white (naturally white - not chalky stark white). Not to mention that you will have enough left to do another complete treatment.
This product worked shockingly well. It even whitened in between the teeth, which is sooo hard to find in a whitening product (even from the dentist). I am so satisfied and could not believe it really worked in 2 hours. So GO FOR IT!!! follow my directions if your nervous and don't let others opinions get into your head."

"There is enough gel inside these tubes to get FOUR treatments (8 hours total) instead of just one 2-hour treatment like it claims. Splitting the gel up this way I still had enough to cover my top and bottom teeth entirely with a nice, solid layer of gel. I saw noticeable whitening after finishing the first tube of gel (there are 8 tubes total). When I was finished, they had gone up at least 8 shades (my teeth were moderately yellow before) and were very white :). I used one tube per day, and this way I did not experience any sensitivity. For the price and the amount of product you get with this, I will definitely purchase this product again. Five stars!"
Pros:
"I had my teeth professionally bleached 6 years ago at the dentist using custom made trays and whitening gel that you take home and use. I decided to use those trays with the Rembrant 2-hr whitening rather than the ones it comes with. I have a small mouth (contrary to what my kids say) and the Rembrant ones were still super loose even after I molded them onto my teeth. So I used my professionally made trays. The 3rd application and my teeth were starting to get that numb sensation like when you eat something super cold. I wondered if I'd be able to go ahead with the 4th application, but I did. Results were as good as the dentist! (which cost me around $425 if I remember correctly) I only used one vile at a time for both top and bottom--again, I guess a small mouth saved me some money. So I have 3 viles left--would have had 4 but the first time I filled my trays I used 1 vile per tray which turned out to be way too much--gel oozing out the top/bottom, etc. The roof of my mouth is still a bit sore an hour later but no pain while eating, etc. I'm glad I tried these and will use again in the future."
Pros:
"I am really surprised that this hasn't gotten better reviews. I think it does quite a good job (especially for a 2 hour investment, versus weeks for the others) at whitening. Also, I have very sensitive teeth (use a sensitive teeth toothpaste). Does this make my teeth hurt? Yes, but not much more than one application of the strips, etc. that take weeks. And I can't keep using the week or longer treatments because one treatment and my teeth hurt too much to use again for days. So, I use Rembrandt once for the 2 hours, my teeth hurt for about 2 days (ibuprofen relieves this) and it's over with. Overall, I think this is an excellent product."

I knew he would not keep up with the white stripes so the 2 hour idea sold me on it. I saw no change in the color of his teeth. My teeth are not as white as I would like them to be so I got it as a touch up. It was uncomfortable in my mouth. The plastic mold cut into my gums. I keep duelling. I can't talk or cough with it in my mouth (unlike with a white strip). My throat became very dry making me more uncomtable. The taste I did not mind. But the gel was at times burning my gums.
The only plus this product appears to have is the one time 2 hour application. But honestly even if you buy a 30 day Crest white strip and only do it once a day, every other day, you will see better results and be more comfortable than with this product."
Cons:
"I'm heading to Las Vegas tomorrow, and at some point meeting up with a party of about 30. I have pretty bad social anxiety, so I'm often nervous about my apperance and things of that nature, so I figured I'd whiten up with this product. I bought the product yesterday. I carefully followed the instructions and although the last capsule seemed to be a little painful, I was pretty satisfied with the results, and found it well worth it, considering it only took 2 hrs. Boy was I wrong!
Last night I awoke in the middle of the night unable to get back to sleep because of the pain shooting through both my teeth and gums. By noon today, my teeth were quite a bit better but it feels like I raked a cheeze grater across my gums. By this evening, it not only feels as though I raked a cheeze grater across my gums, but it looks like I did. Seriously! My gums look all torn and well... hideous. I can hardly eat anything. I'm certainly not even going to consider brushing them until I see a HUGE improvement. I can't even smile they are so painful, and I can barely talk.
My vacation is not something that can be postponed, it's a once in a lifetime thing. I'm really devestated about this. I had NO idea there was any risk invloved in using this product. "Sensitivity" is one thing. Feeling and looking like you've rinsed with some sort of corrosive acid, is another."
Cons:
"I am mystified by all the bad reviews! I have used this product multiple times, and have found it to be, hands-down, the most effective whitener for the price! I saw more immediate improvement with this product than with any other I've tried (although I'm not tried the new 3D strips). My only warning would be that it can cause sensitivity, which I get around by stretching out the treatment over a couple of days."
Pros:
Cons:
"I've tried many whitening products including the Zoom treatment. My teeth are stained yellow from coffee and cola. I used the gel with dentist-formed trays, and I was able to get a two hour treatment from TWO ampules, meaning I got four two hour treatments out of this box. You don't need a lot of gel at all, and if you feel sensitivity, you're just plain doing it wrong. I would estimate my whitening at two shades at this point, but having done plenty of whitening in the past, I know that you'll only know your final shade 1 or 2 days later. One trick I can suggest is to stand at the sink and with the water running, wet a Q-tip and clean off your gums, rinse, repeat, rinse, repeat until you're sure they're clean of gel. You don't want this stuff on your tissues. Will definitely use again...since I have three more treatments left!"
