"I watched a friend snap an expensive rod unloading gear from his truck. He got lucky someone had an extra. I bought this as a back up but liked it so much it has become part of the rod rotation. Kind of stiff action but works great slapping weighted streamers for the big boys...." Read Full Review

"I'm teaching my nephew and nieces to fly-fish, and I'd rather have them learn with this inexpensive rod than one of my more valuable rods. I now own four of these, so each kid can have their own. If they break a tip, no great loss. I've even used one when fishing for crappie and bluegills, and they're actually not a bad rod...." Read Full Review

Pros:
"Been using over ten of these to instruct Boy Scouts. These cast and load best for beginning casters with double taper 6 WT fly lines. Great rod quality for beginning fly fishers at a great price. The only problem has been to find quality reels and line to match the rods at a similar low cost... which I have been able to accomplish mostly at this fantastic web site."

Cons:
"Considering what we fly fishermen have come to expect to pay for a decent rod, this rod is an excellent value, particularly as a backup in the event, God forbid, that our 4 figure rod gives up the ghost on the job. Thanks, Sierra!"
Pros:
"These are a great replacement for the earlier SCI Angler graphite fly rods that we have been using for 8 years. I teach about 400 high school students each year so all our fly fishing equipment gets a great work out. I like the slower action of this blank . It is forgiving and good casts come to my students more quickly as timing is not as critical as in a faster action rod."
Pros:
"Newbie to fly fishing and bought this rod because of the price. Found a hidden gem, because I practiced many hours with this rod and now Ive really excelled and excited in the things that I have accomplished with this rod. The reason is that I was not afraid to damage or even break this rod because of its price, but am very surprised with its durability..I even bought a second one. Cant beat this one to teach novice fly fishing."
Pros:
"Bought these for my kids and friends to learn on and use. I was not sure these would be very good as they were under [$] and often you get what you pay for. However Sierra Trading Post does it again, these will be great for family and friends to learn and fish with. A decent rod at a great price. I will be able to take my kids, nephews, and friends with me fishing and not worry about these rods getting broken or lost. I bought more once I found out how well these are made."
Pros:
"Purchased for prize at TU banquet. Sci Anglers provides good equipment and the price here is outstanding. This is a good weight for a beginning fly angler or any angler for that matter. The length is perfect for small to medium streams and rivers. In this case, you get more than you pay for. All that is missing is rod sleeve and tube. Medium rod speed is good for learning or honing skills."
Pros:
Cons:
"It's been a long time since I picked up a fly rod, after a few minutes of testing my rusty skills I found this rod easy to cast and prompted me to keep improving. You don't have to be rich to enjoy fly fishing ! Good Luck."
Pros:
"I bought this rod for a friend. He is just geting started fly fishing and I wanted him to have a good basic rod to use.He realy likes it.I have one as a back-up rod.Good rod great price!"
