The Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro Lens has super Multi Coating that reduces flare and ghosting that tends to occur when using digital SLR cameras.

The Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro Lens offers high performance medium telephoto macro lens optimized for digital cameras.

The Sigma 105mm Macro 105mm f/2.8 EX DG allows greater working distance between the lens and subject. High contrast and excellent image quality are made possible in all shooting ranges. This macro lens is ideal for digital SLR cameras as well as film SLR cameras.

Reduces flare and ghost - This new medium telephoto macro lens employs a new design concept for digital SLR cameras. Its new lens power layout produces an excellent optical performance and also reduces flare and ghost. This new lens is designed to reduce the influence of harmful light caused by reflections from the digital image sensor.

An easy to use 105mm medium telephoto lens - MACRO 105mm f/2.8 EX DG lens is very suitable for taking pictures in nature and it enables to use of natural light conditions or flash. The greater working distance of this lens is very advantageous when taking the picture of a flower among the branches or an insect. You do not shake your subject when you want to take its precise details without blurring by using a tripod. The narrow angle of view is a great aid for simplifying backgrounds and shallow depth of field makes it easier to handle the composition. This lens would have an equivalent field of view of a 178mm telephoto macro lens on a digital SLR camera (when used with the SD10).

Minimum aperture of f/45 - Depth of field of medium telephoto macro lenses is generally very shallow; however, Sigma, Canon and Konica Minolta mounts of this lens have a minimum aperture of f/45 (or f/32 for Nikon and Pentax mounts) for incredible depth of field.

Screw-in lens hood - A screw-in hood is included, for convenient use of circular polarizing filters. It is possible to attach an 77mm filter in front of the lens hood.

Dual Focus (DF) system - This lens also incorporates a Dual Focus (DF) system that is designed to make the lens easy to hold during auto focusing. The large focus ring offers smooth and positive action whilst focusing manually.

Perfect lens for the price

"I use this lens with a Nikon D80. You couldn't ask for a better macro lens. It is sharp, sturdy, and easy to use. I must say that I was leary at first when I ordered it, as I have seen mixed reviews on Sigma lenses... but was pleasantly surprised at the quality of construction and output of this lens. I do a lot of abstract macro, and floral photography, and it produces great results. Subjects are perfectly..." Read Full Review »

Motor won't hold up

"I do not recommend this lens unless you are prepared to buy another after using it for 17 months or so. The motor will not hold up, and that came from Sigma in New York. I called to ask them if this was a common problem with this lens...after this short time period...and she said yes. So, the lens that I liked very much, is no longer. And I had to buy another, today after just about 15-17 months of use. Othe..." Read Full Review »

Subjects are perfectly sharp at small apertures, and the DOF with shooting wide-open couldn't be any better. The lens does produce hexagonal fragments in the background called "bokeh" when shot wide-open. This is desireable to some, but undesireable to others. I personally like the look. One downside is that it is very slow to auto-focus, especially when used extremely close-up to the subject, as it has a hard time searching for a focal point. I almost always use this lens in a controlled environment, so it has rarely been an issue for me, as I usually focus manually. Overall it is an excellent lens for the price, and very much competitive with higher-end lenses."

"Seriously awesome lens! Half the prize of the Nikon but can't compare to the Nikon because I have never used it. But I will say there is no way the Nikon is twice as good even though it is twice as much. This lens has encouraged me to purchase other Sigma lenses. I have never had a problem with the zoom slipping. The only thing is that it is as easy to attach as a standard Nikon lens and it is heavier than Nikon lens."

"This lens produces incredibly sharp, colorful, and contrasty photos with beautiful bokeh. It is SO well made and it is equally as good at Macro as Telephoto. I can't imagine the Nikkor lens could be better, certainly not at over twice the price. Sigma is a very able lens maker."

"I was debating on getting this lens, but than I just read up on it more and decided to get it. I have not been more satisfied than ever. I love this lens, a very good, steady macro lens. I noticed it's a bit slow on focusing, but other than that perfect lens for its price."
