"I bought this lens to shoot Las Vegas, mostly at night. I was not disappointed! Crystal clear shots, fast 2.8 and ability to capture night shots with a steady hand and no tripod on my Canon EOS 30D. At less than 390.00 this is a great medium range lens. I am a fan of the powder coat finish (some are not) and the overall feel of the piece is one of quality. Zoom is stiff, not sloppy. not bad for the price
"I bought this lens a few years ago (before I really knew what I was doing), however it has served me well since. I work as a photo journalist and I use this lens as a walk-around. its got a great zoom range (for DX cameras) and a 1.3 stop aperture range isnt too terrible. However if you plan on shooting indoors at anything other than 17mm (because the aperture starts changing at 18-19mm) get a different lens, at..." Read Full Review »

"Focus is tack sharp and, in macro, just about starts at the surface of the lens (UV filter). Lens creep is an issue, especially when pointed down which seems to be common with Sigmas. Used it for almost a year now, love it, buy it, done. "
