"For me this is a specialty lens for those atmospheric shots that draw you in - low light, shallow depth of field, the candle light dinner, the pensive portrait where the eyes tell the story. I use mine on the grand old Oly E-1 which was made for night club photo - yes this is a heavy lens, but it is like it was made for the E-1. An affordable choice for low light shooting in the 4 thirds format. It provides a sh..." Read Full Review »

"Horrible corner resolution on the 5D Mark II at all apertures! But otherwise sharp, well built, nice manual focus and good clarity in images...." Read Full Review »

I use mine on the grand old Oly E-1 which was made for night club photo - yes this is a heavy lens, but it is like it was made for the E-1. An affordable choice for low light shooting in the 4 thirds format. It provides a sharp f1.8 with an acceptable wide angle - hard to come in this format. With the Beautiful top of the line Sigma Finish and Very solid build - I'm very happy."

"This lens is a great fixed lens. It makes you get more creative since it's not a zoom. I am very pleased with the images I get with this lens!"

"I wanted a lens with good lowlight performance and thought I'd give the 24mm f1.8 Sigma a shot. The Leica 25mm cost more than twice this lens and I wanted a prime faster than the 25mm pancake. With a lack of prime selection I ordered my Sigma. It's film days base means that it's size is larger than most Oly's being larger than my 11-22 or 14-54. I was warned that it's not the quietest motor which didn't really matter to me because the image performance is what I was after. I was glad to find that it's actually not noisy, but it's not as quiet as the upgraded Oly motors which is a truly unimportant point in images. The build is very solid, the texture is followed through the lens hood and on manual focus gives it a nice grip instead of being completely smooth. Finally the image quality in my review... it's fantastic. The lens performs beautifully and delivers incredible bokeh. With a very shallow depth of field it is a wonderful portrait and creative lens. Focusing at about 7" gives you many options for creativity. I'm very happy with my purchase and can do exactly what I needed from this lens. It's not the fastest, smallest or lightest but I cannot see twice the price giving me better pictures. For me a prime means more composed and thought out shots for which this lens delivers where it counts... THE IMAGES. I'd recommend this lens hands down. There's not a whole lot more you could get from a lens unless you just want the Leica name on your lens or have a lot of extra money to spend. Two thumbs up for a great performer at a truly wonderful price. I would definitely try another Sigma after this and I hope they expand their 4/3 lineup."

Sigma 24mm f/1.8 EX Aspherical DG DF Macro AF Lens for Olympus Digital Cameras (Four Thirds System) Review
"Very nice lens for the money. The AF motor is a bit odd onit compared to the Zuikos, but when you get used to it, Ifound it much better. It takes 77mm filters, so the costcan be a bit high for those. Pros: Fast, sharp, inexpensive
Expertise: Professional - I sell my work
Problems Encountered: Cons: Large for it's focal length, somewhat heavy, af motorkind of slow in low light.
Items I Recommend: 77mm HOYA S-HMC"

"I shoot a lot of macro but occasionally, I like to grab a senic shot or two along the way. This lens does it all for me. No it is not a dedicated macro per sae but still it takes great and wonderfully sharp close ups and in dim light it really performs quite well. As for auto focus, not many auto focus lenses perform well in low light situations when it comes to that and I cannot speak for this lens, since auto focus is just another usless gadget to me, being a macro shooter of course. The lens is well built, the images produced are sharp and have excellent color, there is no vignetting what so ever on a 1.6X crop factor sensor, and the lens really works well in available light situations, even late in the day. I have had this lens for quite a few months and it has never given me one ounce of trouble. I see at least one horror story in the reviews here on this lens and it indeed must be the exception as there always will be one or two, not everything is perfect. Bottom line for me, I really like this lens, it was money well spent, thanks B & H!"
