compact and cheap
"I bought this[$] for a 2 week trip in Europe and it served me well although I wouldn't use it as a main tripod. It folds to 14 inches and it fit in my backpack with no problem. However, sometimes the ballhead would creep. 95% of the time it stayed still with my 40D and Tokina 12-24 lens. I wouldn't put anything bigger than a 100mm macro on it.
