"I have this installed on my Macbook Pro (unibody, 17 inch). I have the USB port connected to a small hub which is running an external back up hard drive and external USB speakers. Both the drive and speakers connect fine. I use one firewire port for a different external hard drive that I keep media files on, and the other firewire port for capturing video from my Canon HV20. Both uses of the ports work fine...." Read Full Review

"The firewire does not work on my MacBook Pro at all. It cannot read my CF card reader nor the MacBook Pro able to detect the Firewire port.I wrote to Sonnet Support and gotten this reply :"Firewire ports are not powered on the ExpressCard/34. You need a power adapter to use bus-powered FireWire devices.[@]If an adapter is needed to power the FireWire port then it should be mentioned in the product description. ..." Read Full Review
Pros:
"Although Firewire is played out and most still do not use..I am in the Recording Audio/Post Production Industry and there are some hardware equipment that I stil use that have Firewire400. This is excellent piece with an extra added USB. Works perfectly with my Macbook Pro. I dont have all the USB next to each other enabling me to have some play room and plug multiple flash drives, or dongle keys in."
Pros:

Also the adapter should be part of the package for this product. Will not recommend this to anyone."
Cons:
"I needed a Firewire 400 port for my new MacbookPro. The Sonnet Technologies Firewire and USB card gave me exactly what I needed...additional ports. Took the card out of the box, pushed it into the card slot and BAM! everything works perfectly. Easy to remove. Excellent product...highly recommended."
Pros:
"If you do not have a firewire port in your nootebook (and has a Express card/34 slot) by one. Fast, easily recognized by Windows Vista, hot swappable, add two FW and one USB 2 port."
Pros:
Cons:
"Works great for the 17" MacbookPro when you need fire-wire 400. I had several video cameras and drives that used fire-wire 400 and this Card does the trick."
Pros:
"The USB port does not work all the time. I have to do a reboot when that happens."
Pros:
Cons:
"Poor description. No mention of required world power adapter to make it useful item."
Cons:
"Purchased to use with my Asus notebook, with the Express 34 expansion card port... Works great and allows me to capture video and edit on the road... Nice....."
Pros:
"Simple, plug and play for MAC!"

The only downside is that it sticks out horizontally from the computer about 2 inches and is thicker than the computer."
