"I did a lot of research on HDTVs and I knew what I was looking for. I love to watch football and I knew I wanted a 120Hz refresh rate. Other widescreen LCDs I have watched games on at friends' homes were nice, but you could see the corners and white spaces in the screen fall apart into little pixels whenever the action was too fast for the image to keep up with. Other widescreen LCDs I have watched games on at friends' homes were nice, but you could see the corners and white spaces in the screen fall apart into little pixels whenever the action was too fast for the image to keep up with. The 120Hz refresh rate eliminates this problem. People also told me that the picture would look horrible unless I upgraded to HDTV through my cable subscriber. I did upgrade and HDTV is amazing, but I am extremely impressed with the picture, especially the black levels on this TV even when not viewing HDTV. 40 inches is the perfect size for our living room. [...] I haven't discovered any downsides to this TV yet. [...] I had it set up in less than 30 minutes. I did it all myself and I am not a techno-geek. You can do it!"

    Pros:

  • Attractive,
  • Easy to setup,
  • Good connections,
  • Great picture quality,
  • Great resolution,
  • Reduces glare,
  • Simple controls

The quality shows

★★★★★
5.0

"This is our first big screen HDTV. We did a lot of research. Talked to a lot of friends who had LCD TV's and the consensus was Sony is the best. We also did a lot of side-by-side comparison in the other big stores. Sony definitely has a "visible" edge. As to whether it's worth it to you to spend the extra money, only you can make that decision. We think it's worth it, plus the seamless integration with the Sony Bravia Surround Sound (wireless) system is the icing on the cake. This is a quality TV. It's the best."

    Pros:

  • Attractive,
  • Easy to setup,
  • Good connections,
  • Great picture quality,
  • Great resolution,
  • Reduces glare,
  • Simple controls

Excellent Choice

"Pros

Beautiful Picture, very clear screen, 120hz is wonderful especially with HD hooked up to it. It becomes life-like. Colors are intense. Hookup was pretty easy. I have researched 40" TV's for approx. one year and I have always trusted Sony. Made an excellent choice with this purchase. All-in-All, "WOW" you are going to love it!!!!!

Cons

Price was higher than what I wanted to pay.

Additional Thoughts

I would highly recommend this TV."

Money well spent

★★★★★

"Pros

Great picture right out of the box. Wide viewing angle. Built in digital tuner pulls in Local "over the air" digital channels. Dells Price beat Best Buy by $300.00, with no interest for 12 months, free shipping, it was a no-brainer.

Cons

Speakers aren't that great. TV shows not in HD look kinda crummy. I beleive that with this TV I can now see how bad regular tv is. Now I have to upgrade to an HD service.

Additional Thoughts

My PS3 looks absolutely AMAZING on this TV, playing games or watching Bue Ray. Bought a Sony DVD player at the same time with "up convert" and even DVD's now look amazing ! I was a little concerned about the price, but I would do it again in a heartbeat. My brother just bought a similar sized Samsung and my Sony blows it away."

Simply AMAZING!!

"Pros

Sony has done it again...standard definition looks amazing while HD looks as if you are looking out of the window. From out of the box and turned on took less than 15 minutes. I highly recomend this TV, it is just breath taking. I will never own anything other than Sony if everything they make is this good.

Cons

NONE and I mean NONE

Additional Thoughts

Awesome TV. Stop looking and buy this one, you will not regret it. I got mine on sale, but even at full price it would be worth it!"

The Nice TV

★★★★★
5.0

"This is a great TV. When your in a pitch black room and you see that illuminated Sony emblem, you know that your money is worth it. It was soo simple to set-up that i didn't even read the manual to setup my surround sound system, blu-ray, xbox 360, and TV. Everything set-up like a breeze. My only compliant is the menu. I can be difficult at times to know and forget which menu you're changing, like the blu-ray and TV menus which look identical. But overall, this TV producing elegant, vivid, and explosive color really add that little something to your living room"

TOP OF THE LINE!

★★★★★

"My wife and I wanted a TV in the bedroom. The overall goal was to select an excellent quality TV that would mount on the wall between our two closet doors. I purchased the Sony after a few months of research on flat panels - this included online as well as going to retailers to watch TV. I don't believe I have seen a better quality flat panel anywhere - period!About OneCall - I have purchased from e-tailers for some time now [...]I would definitely buy from OneCall again. In closing, I have been pretty handy with tools over the years and purchased a Sanus wall mount that was a breeze to install and hang (my wife helped me lift and position it on the mount). Honestly, I believe almost anyone could hang the TV - if you can use a drill, ratchet, level, and stud finder (buy one that senses the edge of the 2x4). The only recommendation I would give is that I used the stud finder with several passes to ensure that it was accurate and the level to draw a straight line between the two stud centers. These minor tools allowed me to drill holes dead center of the 2x4 studs!"

    Pros:

  • Attractive,
  • Easy to setup,
  • Good connections,
  • Great picture quality,
  • Great resolution,
  • Nice sound,
  • Reduces glare

Full HD 1080p
It`s a High Definition world and the best High Definition Resolution this brave new world offers is 1080p; that`s why Sony has more Full HD 1080p HDTVs than ever before. Full HD 1080p means our connections accept 1080p signals and the Display will render that signal in Full HD 1080p. The flexibility of native 1920 x 1080 displays allows any High Definition content to be viewed without the need to downconvert images to the native Resolution of the Display. Take full advantage of Blu-ray Disc(TM) players and PlayStation3 systems that can deliver 1080p content.

DMex
Sony`s Digital Media Extender (DMex) offers a Digital connection path for optional modules like the BRAVIA Internet Video Link, as well as other modules you can add in the future. Innovative DMex expansion capabilities integrate into the award-winning XMB(TM) user interface making HDTVs a powerful entertainment platform that not only meets Current needs, but expands to meet tomorrow`s needs as well.

Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE)
Part of the cinematic drama in film-making comes from details found in shadows and dark areas of the picture. Sony`s Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) uses real-time image processing to dynamically adjust backlight levels for improved Contrast without masking details the filmmaker intended you to see. ACE delivers deep blacks in darker scenes, as well as fine details in shadows and other dark areas of the picture for a difference you can truly see.

BRAVIA(R) Engine(TM) Technology
The latest version of Sony`s respected BRAVIA Engine fully Digital video processor uses a collection of unique SONY algorithms to significantly reduce noise and produce sharp, vibrant, life-like images...

  • Dynamic Noise Reduction: Intelligently identifies and dramatically reduces noise in the signal according to the motion and Brightness of each scene for clearer, crisper images.

  • Detail Enhancement: Improved image enhancement algorithms render greater overall detail.

  • Contrast Enhancement: Works with the Advanced Contrast Enhancer circuit to optimize the Contrast for every scene to create better depth and reality.

BRAVIA Engine technology optimizes the color, Contrast, detail and clarity of every scene for the exceptional performance that BRAVIA HDTVs are known for.

Rich Graphics
Delivering a fun user experience is what the new rich graphics are designed to do. Accessing video content and sharing it with your family and friends on an HDTV is now fast, easy and fun. Colorful thumbnails cascade before your eyes allowing you to visually choose what you want to access.

TV Guide(R) On-Screen Interactive Program Guide
The TV Guide On-screen IPG delivers continually updated program listings to users. The guide requires no subscription fees or phone connection and is available at no extra cost to the consumer. Sony is the first company to integrate the TV Guide On-Screen User Interface into a custom interface — Sony's exclusive Xross Media Bar(TM) user interface.

BRAVIAR() Sync Technology
Allows the access and control multiple tasks and system operations with one button ease. BRAVIA Sync is the name for a new family of control features that not only includes BRAVIA Theater Sync, but will now include BRAVIA Sync. This feature allows the user to control a CEC-enabled camcorder connected to a BRAVIA HDTV via an HDMI cable by using the HDTV`s Remote Control and an on-screen Display that shows camcorder transport functions.

24p True Cinema
Movies and many prime time TV programs are captured at 24 frames per second (24p). Sony`s Blu-ray Disc(TM) players wisely take advantage of this by including 24p output capability allowing a compatible connection with BRAVIA(R) HDTVs that have this capability. The benefit - You can watch movies in natural, cinematic motion, the way they are seen at the cinema. Every single frame of the movie can now be seen without using additional video processing that converts film-based images to video reproduction. Additionally, 24p True Cinema input capability can be used along with Motionflow(TM) 120Hz technology for outstanding fluid motion beyond what you would typically see at the cinema. Once you experience 24p video it will be hard to view video without it.
