"Bluray and xbox 360 games via HDMI looked excellent and was quite impressed by the overall quality. The tv had pretty decent black levels considering it is a lower end bravia model. I have quite a large dvd collection and everytime I would go to play one, my eye kept catching the grainy image quality. I used an xbox 360, dvd player, and bluray with all the same results. I know that some movies are supposed to have that grainy picture to them, but this was the same result on all of them. Since this was my first 1080p/bluray player, I was not about to upgrade my whole collection of dvds to bluray and decided to return this television. I ended up purchasing the KDL-V5100, last year's sony model with 120hz refresh rate and it made all the difference. I experienced the wow factor the moment I turned it on. If you are planning to play bluray only along with a HD cable box, this tv might be great for you. A bestbuy worker told me that this tv is comparable to last years KDL-40S5100 model in case your're wondering. You get what you pay for."

"Researched a number of comparable units from various manufacturers and settled on the SONY based on reputation and specific features. The ambient light sensor was important as the unit is to be located in a room with several large windows.Set-up was very straightforward although it would have been nice if the setup guide had indicated that the INPUT needs to be set in accordance with the particular connection you have chosen. If you get a "No Signal" message, try the INPUT button on the remote and adjust accordingly. I used the provided component cables for connection. I'm not sure that an HDMI cable would make any significant difference.The picture quality right out of the box can only be described as stunning. Color and contrast are excellent and that ambient sensor really does work! The anti-glare screen is also very effective. A room lamp clearly visible in the surrounding bezel cannot be seen at all in the image area.I agree with other reviewers that the built-in sound is not exactly overwhelming but if you're going to watch movies, etc., one can always pump the audio through the stereo amp & speakers (if you have that option).[...]"

Review:I needed a TV to hang over my fireplace and got a great deal on this one. I was a little worried about getting a 60hz because of here say. I saw this displayed at a local store and was sold. I saw no difference between this and the 120hz. My husband has a samsung in his man cave that we spent way more money on and I think this TV is just as good. I just love it and Dell always has great deals. Highly recommend."

The picture is great, I cannot perceive a difference between this and much more expensive 120 or 240Hz TV sets. It has LOTS of inputs, including 4 HDMI and a PC input. I am still playing with the picture settings, but even straight out of the box, it looks GREAT!



I agree that the speakers are not top-notch, but they were much better than I expected from reading other reviews. I have the TV hooked up to a surround system, so I will not be using the speakers on the TV. Also, I wish the remote lit up, but this is a very minor inconvenience--it is a very uncomplicated remote, easy to use in the dark."

"I can't say it's the best lcd tv out there but I can say it's great for the value. Sound quality is good. If you want the best sound you should upgrade to better speakers anyway but they sound just fine to me. I usually put the volume setting between 10 or 15 and it's kind of loud already. Picture quality is great just oversaturated on standard setting. Vivid setting is too bright and washes out the colors. I created my own custom setting. Adjusted the picture and brightness down and put the color temp on warm 1 to get the picture quality where I wanted. Also turn off the ambient sensor or you're going to be wondering why the tv is so dim. Turning it off does make a big difference. Everything just pops out now and looks great. Google sony ex400 setting if you need help adjusting your tv. The only thing I dislike is the gray bezel. Looks fine at night but during the day it can be distracting."

"I bought this TV two weeks back.First, I found this TV at its lowest price on BHP and now I can say that was the best decision i made in a long time.The picture is stunning and has every technical detail on its side except the 60Hz refresh rate.The only difference between the same size TVs of other brands with higher price is the refresh rate.But i did not find a single issue because of this.140,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio provides excellent image differentiation.i cud even connect my laptop thru VGA output.Just make adjustments to your computer resolution and you'll have excellent image. Dont expect this TV to give you a great sound. I never wanted to enjoy sound directly from the TV so that was not an issue for me."

"This is my first flat screen, but my 32" CRT sony bit the dust. This model seemed to fit my needs, however, a little after 2 months it quit. No power, picture, nothing. Best Buy recomended I contact Sony, and after several frustrating hours of getting the Sony song and dance, my options were to drive the unit to my "local" service dealer which is almost 3 hours away. Or sony will send me a refurbed unit which will take about two weeks to get here. (Had I wanted a refurb unit, I could have saved $250 and bought one in the beginning). I paid for a new unit and due to premature failure I am being sent a remanufactured unit (and waiting 2 weeks for it - having a 10 and 13 year old on summer vacation with no TV is approaching insanity) . Sonys customer service/problem solving skills are a disappointment. I have been a loyal Sony affeciando and have rarely had issues, but if this is how they treat long time customers, then I will think twice before buying a Sony. I apologize for my bitterness, but it was only a little over 2 months old. I feel that us as customers have lost most of our influence on products that do not meet our expectations."
