"I had this tv for a little over two years, the tv all of a sudden just went out. Sony offered no help and referred me to a local sony dealer who would fix it. I was quoted over $350 for a back light that might be the problem, but no guarantee. Not satisfied with Sony at all, would recommend going to a different company. I have two generic models in my house that have lasted much longer than this overpriced tv th..." Read Full Review

Review:I bought this TV after reviewing several products online and researching through customer reviews and Consumer Reports. Have had the TV only a few days and am blown away by the awesome picture and colors on this set! Set up was a little tricky, but after a couple calls to the Sony help line, we were in business. The sound is much better than expected after reading reviews on other TV's which pretty much said all of them have poor sound. I was highly impressed (as usual) with service from Dell. I ordered this TV on Monday night online and it was delivered to my house on Friday. I would recommend Dell and Sony to anyone looking for a great but not outrageously expensive LCD TV. We love it!!!"
"We could not be happier with this HDTV. Afer many, many, months of researching on-line and in stores, my decision on the Sony EX500 has proved to be a wise choice. The viewing angle problem with many of the LCD sets only is noticed when viewing from a severe angle, which in our case is non-existant since we view from 65-90 degrees and there is no degradation until one gets to a 40 degree angle.
The picture quality is superb and the lack of screen glare, is perfect for the family room we have it in. We could not be happier with the adjustments and the features on this TV. Our Sony TV upstairs, an older style Tube TV has always performed well and never has required service. The reliability ratings on the newer Sony HDTV's, and the multitude of great reviews are all warranted for the EX500. I checked virtually every website and Consumer products site to investigate the merits of this unit. I recommend this TV to anyone who wants to spend around 800.00 on a very nice, asthetically pleasing, nicely designed, and great quality LCD HDTV. Nice job Sony also for providing fast shipping, and answering questions promptly prior to the purchase."

"i am reviewing this Tv after a day of use. the picture quality is great on the ps3. my analogue channels have a good picture also. i fiddled with the setting to provide the best possible picture for my analogue channels. the sound is what you expect from a LCD: good not awesome. the connectivity with 2 composites ports and 4 hdmi ports are exactly what i needed. the remote could have fluorescent buttons to make them more identifiable. the up, down, left and right arrow are hardly noticeable and needed to be highlighted. thus far, i am very pleased with the Tv and so is my wife."
Pros:
"This TV is a great purchase. At its price you're not going to find any others that have as much to offer as the Sony Bravia.
The picture quality is perfect and can be fine tuned to suit your own preferences. There are a number of different picture modes that can also be customized should you feel the need.
The picture automatically warms, cools, dims, and brightens based upon the ambient lighting in the room Thanks to this, the picture is very consistent and you can have any lighting set up in your house yet not have your picture suffer.
Bravia Sync is my single favorite feature of this TV. With it, I can control my PS3 and other Sony products with my one TV remote; cutting down on remote clutter while still providing all the necessary functionality for enjoying media on my TV.
On the topic of the remote. The design for this remote is great for people who either lose battery covers easily or have kids in the house. It slides down the back, providing just enough space to change the batteries, then it slides back into place. A handy power button is located on the back of the remote as well as the front, making it easily to turn on the TV if you've already shut off all of your lights.
The only feature I don't like about this TV is Motionflow, and I think it may be because I haven't found an application suitable for it. With Motionflow enabled, I find that watching/playing high-action movies and video games I get nauseous. Fortunately, it is a feature that can be disabled."

"I read a lot of reviews for 120mhz 40inch lcd TVs.
And their didnt seem to be a whole lot for this specific model. The few reviews I did find were all very positive.
I can say that this TV is pretty amazing. The color is great. The sound is a lot better then expected. Great viewing in all types of lightning.
No glare at all. (although the frame is glossy which does show some glare. not much, not distracting and its the frame of the TV. Not the actual viewing screen.
I have only owned it for 2 days But I am pretty impressed with this model. Got it on sale from B@H.
The remote control is lacking a few features but i personally like less buttons on my remote. So I like this remote ."
Pros:
"I would separate my review into 2 pieces - the TV itself and then B&H.I did my research for a while, like all of us. Based on assorted reviews, consumer reports, and seeing it in stores I decided to go with this one.The TV is wonderful. I needed something to upgrade a 5 year old 37 inch LCD (which I moved to the play room) and this is in another category by itself. First of all, we mainly use it for movies and I just have regular basic cable. The TV, by itself, found all the HD channels and now I have incredible images. So I discovered I do have HD channels (which before I never knew). It also found music channels.Even in regular SD TV, the image is brighter and crisper than before. The set is much lighter than the older models and easy to install by myself. I basically attached the cables needed to it, plugged it in, and it worked perfectly. Also, the TV is in our living room and I wanted a good sized TV but I did not want it to be the visual point of our living room. It looks beautiful and fits in very well. Some people have complained about the grey bar underneath, but I think it looks good. The first weekend we had it we rented a movie from Amazon Video and it was just great (with a laptop). A whole new movie viewing experience.Other nice little features are the auto-adjust dim and the swivel base. I can not say I see much of a difference with the 120HZ, but I did get this (rather than the 60HZ model) to make sure this TV would be current for the next few years. The only very slight negative I have seen is that the time to change between channels is slightly longer than my old set. But I really do not care as we only watch a few channels regularly. My wife could care less about electronics and TV's, and she is very impressed with this TV. So that tells you something.[...]"
Pros:
"I LOVE this TV. My 'tekkie' daughter is jealous that I have it! I had a friend do some research to find me the 'best' TV that was not outrageously priced, and this one came up as the one with all the best features, reviews from other users, and the 40" size was perfect. I may wall-mount it later but for now it's on a stand. I also love the feature that I can see my slide shows of places I've traveled in a spectacular format.I have recommended it already to friends. The internet connectivity is really great; I could realistically cancel my cable subscription and just use the net on this. The SONY brand has the best reputation and the quality of this is apparent."
Pros:
"The free wall mount is adaquate. [...]The first set had to be returned to Sony due to a mechanical problems. The original was factory fresh but there were two pictures superimposed on the screen and the SONY tech I worked with could not reset the unit. I went straight to SONY since Abes was not a fault. [...] It was great when I finally got the tv set up and running. The heavy HDMI cables had to be plugged into the side HDMI slots. The SONY blue ray DVD player and Sony Bravia TV work seemlesly and Netflix play well. SONY and Verizon have very helpful telephone tech people who helped walk me through the set up and interface of all of the equipment. I would buy the combo again [...] I would probably buy this kind of item at a brick and morter the next time even thouth it all worked out in the end."
Pros:
"This is my first LCD HDTV, and my motivation for buying it rested on the features offered for the sale price at Best Buy. I was leaning towards a comparable Samsung, but Sony has the same features for $300 less. I've had this LCD HDTV for about a month. Features are excellent. Everything (HD Cable, PS3, etc.) hooked up with HDMI cables without a problem. Connect to external speakers was also problem free. The picture quality is awesome, especially when playing HD Cable or BluRay. It's amazing! Standard TV isn't so good, but it wasn't that good on any LCD HDTV I looked at in this price range. Glare can be a bit of a problem, which is disappointing, but my living room is arranged in a way to mitigate that challenge by turning off a couple of lamps. Sound quality is okay, and to help with that I've connected my iMac speakers (two + subwoofer)."
