"Bought this a few months ago. Was working great, no problems. Then all of a suddent it won't shut off. Just keeps running. Very inconvenient to keep turning it off and on when when needed. No troubleshooting in the operator's manual. Disappointed. Thought Staples could do better! Next time I'll go to [...]. The one I bought from them 4 years ago is still working perfectly!Don't waste your money!..." Read Full Review

Cons:
"-We've had this shredder about a month now.
-Small office of approx 5 people.
-We went about 5 months without one, so there were about 2 boxes that needed shredding upon arrival.
-Our last shredder didn't shred staples, so this one is such a time saver!
-When shredding larger quantities, we do find ourselves emptying quite a bit, but I don't think it will be an issue after we finish shredding our back log.
-It doesn't really hold a bag, but your can put one in the bin. Just don't over load the bag, because it will rip on the way out!
-Overall we are pleased!"

"This shredder has so far lived up to my expectations. While I marked it difficult to empty, with a little creative use of a 13 gal trash bag this can be over-come easily and without causing the bin full indicator to trip just beacuse the bag is in. Without adding a bag I would guess I would take it outside to empty...
I am a casual shredder, few sheets a day typically, that is after the bulk run to get caught up. What I like the most is the cross cut shred, it is not exactly mil-spec impossible to reassemble but it cuts small enough pieces and scatters them in the bin in a way that someone would have to be really intent on getting whatever they thought you had, far better than my previous shredder which just left long strips that were almost readable just looking in the bin.
I can't hnestly comment on how it would hold up to heavy daily use, but if you are looking for something that takes care of your confidential information that comes in statements and other mail items then this is a shredder you should consider, you pay a little more but you get a lot more for your money and better security than inexpensive models.
I have had no jams and hit it with all 15 sheets a times, I can't see any way to hurt yourself on it, and I like how it chops up credit cards, CD's, and DVD's as easily as it does paper.
If there was any downside it would be it saying you should not shred thin film plastic through the main feed since you find that on my enevelops, but the answer was pretty easy, I don't really shred many evenlops and when I do I run tear it and feed the plastic window through the DVD section, so far, so good.
The only other thing I dropped one star from max is the combination of the empty issue even though I found a work around and the power on slider switch which is more a nit-pic than a real issue, unless you take care it goes from off right through shred to reverse easily so you need do it a few times before you get the touch down pat, but as I said this is a nit, and is no problem now that I have used it many times."

"I used this product. It is so much better than my previous ID Armor $10 shredder. the difference is like day and night. This one is powerful and can easily handle 10 pages at the same time. The shredded piece is small and distributed across the bin. It is impossible to resemble them back. I highly recommend it if the price is good."
Pros:
Cons:
"[$]. I have been shredding for about 2 months now or approximately 40 bushels full of shredded paper and it keeps on going. The CD shredder is also a plus. Thicker papers, report covers, just about anything goes through it."
Pros:
"We bought the shredder for our house, we've had it about 3 months now, and it runs flawlessly. We've had 2 shredders in the past and both are junk in comparison to this. In the 3 months of ownership, we have literally shredded three 30-gallon garbage bags we had been hoarding. Even if you get a jam, it is SO easy to clear with the reverse function."

Pros:
Cons:
"Small home office with light shredding needs. Looks nice & ok bin.
10 sheet max in 20 wt. paper. 15 sheet 20 wt nearly stalls.
Only used a week & very noisy but does the job we needed it for."
Pros:
Cons:
"ilike the fact that you don't have to remove the actual shredder to empty bin, as previous shredder. teh more times you remove the shredder from the bin, the more likely you are to break off the little tabs that act as a safety switch"
Pros:
"I have the 2007 version of this 15 sheet shredder, SPL 1506-X, nearly identical in appearance. It struggles with more than 6-7 sheets at a time. The bin needs to be emptied when about 3/4 filled. I only used it once a year for major shredding, then maybe once a week for a page here or there. After 15 months it stopped working altogether. They tell me it is probably a sensor. It is practically unfixable, because the warranty expired after 12 months, and the cost of shipping the heavy head both ways plus $25 just to look at it - practically equates to a new machine."
