"Just bought this stand in early Sept. 09` for the 09` Minnesota Deer season. Its great for your first climber but it gets heavy on long hikes in and out of the woods. the cables are very very noisy. stand tends to slip on wet trees. makes noise on thick bark trees. upside its very comfortable "best use gun hunting". but for a more advanced archer go get urself a lone wolf. way lighter and way quieter than the vi..." "This stand is going to be your best option unless you're bowhunting on land you've scouted in advance and then a prehung stand will probably be a better option (no noise from banging on saplings and less weight walking in), but when going into a new area or wanting to be flexible with positioning while bowhunting you can't beat this climber. It hooks up to the tree quickly with no pins, it bites into the bark securely, it lets you sit down while climbing, the safety strap moves with you while climbing, and with the cinch strap provided to attach the seat portion of the stand to the tree once you get to desired height you don't have to worry about bumping the top with your hip while standing and having it fall clanging onto the foot portion. Don't worry the front rail isn't in the way when shooting your bow because your cam will be in front of it while shooting. You will even be able to cover the back angles well if you don't hook the seat portion up as high leaving the rail a couple inches lower than "normal".
For gun hunting I love this stand. It lets me hunt all day comfortably and provides a very stable shooting platform. This stand's seat has a thick cushion and the bands holding up the seat don't cut into your backside, the rungs on the platform are wide so your feet don't get fatigued from gripping, and the foot rest is a must to put you in that "La-Z-Boy Position" allowing you to sit all day. When it's time to shoot you lean your firearm forward onto the front rail or side rails (I like to position the seat portion of the stand a couple inches higher than "average" in gun season so it will lift the front and side rails for me), they're solid and your cross hairs won't bounce. It feels like you're shooting off a bench rest. For gun season it allows me to get higher in the tree safely and that almost always affords me better shot opportunities without sacrificing safety. I could go higher in a fixed position, but I wouldn't feel as safe and without a rest to put my firearm on I wouldn't be able to shoot longer ranges anyway. The reality is, I'm not the greatest with heights and I feel comfortable being 20' up because it's so solid. I'm more concerned with the tree coming down than the summit.
If your hunting situation requires a climber buy this one unless you hunt close to me then I'd prefer you bought another stand forcing you to get down early and move some deer around to me.
Good Hunting!"
Pros:
"This is a very easy stand to use. When the stand is in the tree it feels safe enough to river dance on it. the stand is very solid in the tree. Few set backs is the box it comes in, thats almost the size and shape it will be when carried into the woods. And the only other set back is that the metal makes noise when walking to your tree. The fix to the noise is they make something called stand wrap. Put this wrap on every metal that your feet do not touch when you would be in the stand that will solve the clinking problem when walking out into the woods."

"I have been an avid deer hunter for over 30 years. This stand is a must have for any serious deer hunter. Having taken mechanical engineering in college I can honestly say that the craftsmanship and materials used on this stand are of top quality; who else gives a FIVE year warranty. I could not believe how quiet this stand climbs, and the comfort and feeling of safety is what I have searched hard for and finally found. There is absolutely nothing complicated about using this stand. There is a video included that CLEARLY explains EVERYTHING involved in taking this stand from the box to safely sitting in your favorite tree. The harness is of top quality and is the first one I have recieved with any stand I own that I could figure out effortlessly. The stand packs and unpacks together well. The engineering on this product is incredible. Everything is included that a hunter needs for a SAFE, long stay on stand. I had a treefall accident years ago so I strive for safety while hunting. This stand is one that has no flaws and I would highly recommend to anyone."
Pros:
"im one of those guys who would rather save a few bucks and drag around a little more weight, until i got turned around last year on some federal land and walked for 3 hours. so there was some extra money in the piggy bank this year and i bought the viper. i cant express how upset i am that i didnt do this years ago! i love this thing. it's comfortable, comes with an extra strap to tie the platforms together when your walking, did i say comfortable? and light. the only con would be that when my rubber boots are wet they squeak when i turn. but thats the only down side to this stand, its great."
Pros:
Cons:
"Very minimal assembly required and no moving parts to squeak. As a regular tree stand user, I was able to get the "hang" of this one right away. Easy to carry, set up and comfortable. The stirrups are a great design. Shot a nice buck opening day of the 2007 Virginia Muzzleloader season first time I used the stand! Cannot find anything wrong with this product."
Pros:
"I have been a hunter for a few years, but I am finally getting into a tree this year. I just bought a Summit Viper SS and I really enjoy it. The climbing is easy and the seat reminds me of my LazyBoy.
The only detrimental feature is that the rubber coating on the cable system is easily shredded, this doesnt affect the mechanical features, just the visible ones."
Pros:
"I hunt deer in Sam Houston National Forest near Houston, TX... The treestand is very comfortable, I've fallen asleep in it twice already waiting for sunrise to arrive.
My biggest pet peeve is it's a bit noisy when it's on my back. I may have to just pay more attention to how I assemble it to ensure there is no moving parts.
I've looked up the accessories, a bag to hold all the straps that is part of the stand would be nice, but the reviews state they are not very high quality.
Cheers-"

Cons:
"Only bad thing I can think of is the "Summit Skin" a self adhesive camo tape to cover the rails and what not. The instructions claim that it's "Aggressive" and sticks on contact but, after 24 hours sitting in my shed a lot of areas came loose. I doubt that it would hold any longer under cold/wet conditions in the field. I'll most likely clean the rest off after this season and just spray paint it."
Pros:
Cons:
"this stand is a great stand it is easy to climb in and very comfortable when sitting in. the only bad think is that the straps are cheap and not comfortable when walking on longe walks. that is ok the durability and ease of use makes up for that hands down. but it would recommend to upgrade to get padded straps."
