"The HC300 sits on a floor vent that is open to the lower level directly over a wood stove. Once the wood stove is going this unit brings more than enough hot air up to heat the main floor of 1275 square feet. Heat rises, but we were not getting enough prior to obtaining this fan...." "I have a long house and the ac doesn't really get to the back rooms and the front rooms are cold, so I got this. It is great it pulls the air into those rooms that need it and the ac doesn't work as hard. The only drawback is that it is about 2" high so it has to be on a vent where there is little traffic so no one trips."
"I HAVE BEEN USING REGULAR ROOM FANS TO TRY AND HELP MOVE THE AIR IN THE ROOMS THAT NEVER SEEM TO COOL DOWN. THERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN A EXTREMELY NOTICEABLE 5-10 DEGREE DIFFERENCE FROM THE BACK OF MY HOUSE TO THE FAMILY ROOM/KITCHEN (GREAT ROOM), SO I PLACED TWO OF THEM IN THERE AND ONE AT THE MIDWAY POINT OF MY HOME HOPING TO HELP PULL MORE COOL AIR TO THE FRONT. I PLACED A THERMOMETER IN THE BACK OF THE HOUSE, MIDWAY AND IN THE GREAT ROOM PRIOR TO USING THE BOOSTER FANS FOR TWO DAYS. THEN ON THE THIRD DAY I USED THE FANS. THERE WAS A 12 DEGREE DECREASE IN TEMPERATURE IN THE GREAT ROOM, IT WAS WONDERFUL !!!!!!!!! FINALLY MAKING IT BEARABLE TO STAY IN FOR AN EVENING OF VIDEOS, FAMILYTIME, FRIENDS ETC., VERY IMPRESSIVE ! THE USE OF MY OWN VERSION OF THE BOOSTER FAN (SMALL TURBO ROOM FANS)WORKED AS WELL, BUT THE VACCUUM EFFECT THAT THE BOOSTER FANS PRODUCE (SINCE IT COVERS THE WHOLE VENT), MAKES IT SO MUCH MORE EFFICIENT. COULD BE A TAD MORE POWERFUL THOUGH. I ONLY WISH I HAD DONE SOMETHING ABOUT IT MYSELF, IN THE WAY OF INVENTION THA IS. THEN I WOULDN'T BE THE ONE WRITING THE REVIEW, I WOULD BE ASKING FOR ONE AS WELL AS YOUR MONEY TOO !!!! HA HA HA"

"Very impressed with how well this works, better than I was expecting. We have a home with forced air heat to which we added Air Conditioning. The problem we've always had is with the AC and trying to keep the upstairs cool. The downstairs would be nice and cool, but the upstairs was always about 10 degrees warmer because the vents are in the floor so the cool air never rises, it just stays on the floor and eventually falls down the stairs. Trying to cool the upstairs usually meant keeping the downstairs so cold you'd want to wear a sweater in July.
I bought a 3-pack of these boosters for our upstairs bedrooms and noticed a difference immediately. The first day we used them there was less than 2 degrees difference between upstairs and downstairs, when previously it was usually about 10 degrees. The auto-start feature was simple to setup, and works flawlessly. We've only used these with AC, heating has never been a problem so I can't comment on that.
The fan is audible, not really loud, definitely quieter than a room fan, but not silent either. You'll hear it, but I doubt it would be enough to keep most people from falling asleep unless you are super sensitive to noise.
I'd recommend these to anyone who has floor vents upstairs and trouble keeping those rooms cool with your AC. I actually have two other vents upstairs that I'd like to use these with so I'm going to buy a couple more."

for wall vent installation, there is no hardware included. what makes this so easy to install is: if you have a floor vent, you place this blower over the vent, plug it in and walk away. its a bit more complex than that for wall mount. first of all, there are no included screws, you are supposed to have those, or have the ability to get 2 # 8 screws. then you have to drill holes and mount the blower upside-down.
there are 2 problems with this, first of all, in my case, the blower was smaller than the vent so this means drilling holes in the vent. i rent my apartment so that is already out of the question. secondly, you are supposed to mount this thing upside down. the catch to this is 2 fold, a) the controls are now inverted thus making it harder to program unless you are dyslexic which actually works in my favor, and b) the blower that is intended to help bring air into the room is now directing air up towards the ceiling instead of the floor.
my solution seems to be working ok so far, but as i mentioned, i have really not had a chance to fully test this. i was able to find a way to mount this right side up to direct the air downwards, however it required me to use zip ties and have a ton of patience. i ran 2 zip ties between the left and right most luvers in the vent, then ran one side of each tie thru the plastic luvers in the back of the blower. once i pulled it tight, the blower seemed to stay in place in front of the vent just fine... just dont ask me how i plan to get it back down at the end of my apartment lease. :-)
i did run a test and it does definitely increase the amount of air going into the room, but plan on spending at least 45min to 1 hr to figure out how to install this thing.
one other note... DO NOT TAKE IT APART. there is no way to mount the back plate on the wall first then connect the blower. taking the unit apart will just add to the craziness of the product. it is harder to put back together than it is to take apart.
long story short, this product does seem to work well, but you will probably pull your hair out trying to mount this on the wall. best bet is to do what i did and use zip ties right after you take this unit out of the box and save yourself hours of "screwing around"
"Our house is a split ranch and our bedroom is over the attached garage which is not heated. It gets very cold in the winter in the room, and because we have a home theater system in the room, a heater seems to draw too much power (1500 watts) and cause electrical outages. I found this register booster on this website and thought it would be a viable solution to the cold and necessity of low power usage.
I installed it and follwed the directions for installation and usage. It did what it was supposed to do by maintaining comfortable room temperature and recycling with the furnace. However, the motor is extremely loud, even on the minimum setting.
Today, I called Suncourt (manufacturer). I spoke to Paul (did not get a last name). I asked him if there was an upgraded unit with a noise suppressor and he indicated that this was the only unit the company made. When I informed him that the unit was too loud, he replied that "We don't get too many complaints about the noise". He then went on to tell me that "Loud noise is in the ears of the beholder".
How about that for being "blown off" with no suggestion as to how to correct the problem. If I were the CEO of the company and I overheard his reply, I would certainly council him on how to empathise with a customer and not alienate one."
"I live in a townhouse that has inadequate ductwork, but can't afford to replace it. It is always freezing in the basement, normal on the main floor and boiling on the 3rd level. With the Equalizer I am able to boost airflow to the 3rd floor. Another plus for me is, I paid a bundle for a sleep machine that has various night and soothing sounds and the Equalizer does a much better job."
Pros:
"These fans are working out well, balancing a couple of "weak" rooms. They're most useful in the early morning, coming on just after a setback thermostat starts the heat. Combined with timers, they can be used to customize when and where the airflow goes.
They're great for an interim fix and simultaneous diagnostic (we'll probably put in-duct boosters in later). These units are a bit noisy for bedroom or low noise-level use. However, once they've been replaced with in-duct units, they'll be moved to the basement, to boost the air there when we need it.
The only real complaint is the mounting system. It would be great if these things had keyhole slots that worked from top and bottom. I had to customize things a bit.
All in all, a good fix."

Cons:
"I installed units in upstairs bedrooms that have been constantly hard to cool & so it was uncomfortable when sleeping. This made an immediate difference. We now need a cover over us to keep from feeling chilled at night."
Pros:
Cons:
"I 'installed' two of these in our problem room above the garage - warm in the summer, cold in winter. They made 5-6 degree difference in temperature. They are a bit noisy, which isn't noticable when the air is on. But, if you haven't adjusted them properly to cycle with the air, the noise is quite noticable when the HVAC is off. Not as stylish as the flush mount units, but very easy to install and relocate if needed. Good product!"
