Purchased 5 mths ago. Works great!

"This has been a Great product for over 5 months now. I have a 2 year old & a DVD player is very useful both at home during meal time [Quiets him down so he will eat better.] & in the Car or Plane for traveling [Especially longer trips.]. The Toshiba has a 360 swivel screen which is flexible for adjusting for between car seats. I have a Honda CRV & it's a perfect fit & can sit on arm rests between seats (No attachments required.). The DVD player is durable & has dropped on a couple of ocassions in the car & no damage or problems occurred. The sound & picture are great & fully adequate. I would definately recommend this player. This is also totally an Honest review where I have no connection with Toshiba or any affiliated service or agency."

    Pros:

  • Durable,
  • Flexible for car use,
  • Great picture quality,
  • Lightweight,
  • Long battery life,
  • Nice sound,
  • Portable,
  • Simple controls

"I bought this model for two reasons: the huge screen, and to use on airplanes since flying is so little fun any more. The screen can't be beat--big and beautful resolution. But the overall size of the unit is a bit big/heavy after the battery is added to the bottom. Too bulky for the plane for my tastes (and that great big screen made it hard to find a good case) ,but a fabulous portable DVD player for all other purposes.Size of a small laptop with a long-life battery."

    Pros:

  • Great picture quality,
  • Long battery life

    Cons:

  • Heavy / bulky

"Overall I would definitely recommend this DVD player to anyone. This Toshiba has a great picture and is easy to use. I really like the turn screen option. I have watched movies on some of my friend's portable DVD players, and they do not compare. For a under 200 dollar portable DVD player, this is the one to have."

    Pros:

  • Durable,
  • Great picture quality,
  • Long battery life,
  • Portable,
  • Simple controls

    Cons:

  • Hard to see in day light,
  • Only comes in white,
  • Volume not loud enough

Great DVD Player

★★★★★
5.0

"This DVD player is great. The screen rotation feature is great on an airplane so you can position it on a tray table close to your child (and not have to use headphones). Just don't hit that mode button by accident because it brings you back to the dvd loading process. A couple of times I got an error while loading the dvd, but if you open/close, it seems to get by this for all dvds (so far)."

    Pros:

  • Great picture quality,
  • Long battery life,
  • Nice sound,
  • Portable

    Cons:

  • Errors on load

almost perfect

"The picture is very good. The sound - with ear phones - is very good. Without them- 'not so much'. I haven't used the battery yet. I enjoy using this player but I find on long movies the picture freezes up then starts and stops alot. This doesn't happen on average movies, just DVD's with alot of info. on them. This is annoying and is the only reason I rated it a 4 star."

    Pros:

  • Durable,
  • Great picture quality,
  • Lightweight,
  • Portable

    Cons:

  • Poor audio,
  • Skips easily

"Just came back from 5 hour trip with 2 young kids and used the Toshiba for the first time. No complaints. Stylish, great picture and sound. I would not let the kids wear headphones and volume was plenty! Plan on taking this with me on a airplane trip to use myself too!

Also inserted SanDisk to watch photos from vacation. Only Toshiba allows you to do this."

    Pros:

  • Durable,
  • Great picture quality,
  • Long battery life,
  • Nice sound,

What's the point?

★★★☆☆
3.0

"This DVD player has a fantastic picture and great sound. You can see the picture even at an angle. The volume gets pretty high, which is a problem we had with our old player not getting loud enough. My problem with this player is that we were driving several hours so we brought it with us for our daughter to watch a movie. It kept skipping. I thought, it can't be from the car, it wasn't bumpy at all at that point. I eventually turned it off. I came home and found the instruction booklet only to read "do not operate in a moving vehicle" because it can distort the picture and cause damage to the disc. So what is the point of a PORTABLE DVD player if you can't use it on the go? Of course the person driving should not be using it, but other people in the vehicle will want to!

Our old dvd player, a Samsung, worked fine in the car. Unfortunately, the battery was terrible at recharging and eventually would not hold a charge at all. So far so good with the Toshiba. But I am also having problems with this one not being able to read a DVD-R disc. The manual says it must be "finalized" whatever that means.

Lastly, though it is superficial and really not important, we have only taken it on one trip and it was in a padded case yet the top is already scuffed. Not sure how that happened."
