"Everybody seems to have problems with this but me. It came out of the box, and I was printing good-looking CDs in no time. I found that by putting in good quality black and white images, I got best results. Don't fool with color images or gifs. I use this for my group's CDs, which we give out for free at shows. "It printed 25 discs, then started dragging the ribbon across the disc and not rewinding it, then stopped printing altogether. Also, the software limits the design capability to 4 areas, and either text OR graphic per area- not both (that's how the printer works- 4 print areas- area 1, print, spin 45 degrees; area 2 print, spin 45 degrees; 3,4 etc.)(1ightScribe with Nero 8 Make fluid designs where you can put anything anywhere, but the 1ightScribe discs are dull, and the 1ightScribe print comes out grey, and can rub off- that's why I bought this trinket). On top of that, it says "Vista Ready", but it didn't work on Vista, or Win 98 like the claim on the box. On top of that, it auto installed a Micr0s0ft .net client that is older than the one in Wind0ws X-P (the only system I had luck with [I have 3 computers at home]) and now my wireless internet no longer works on the X-P laptop.
GREAT!! ~>:(
I must say- This item would make a better soup bowl- and that's if didn't leak. The print quality of 200 dpi was ok for the price, but too many loosely assembled internal plastic gear components and software that's honestly not compatible with any MS system make it a piece of junk (Wind0ws X-P warned me to install at my own risk and said in the message box that the software wasn't entirely compatible). It also goes by the name: T.E.A.C model P-11 (made in China), P.r.i.m.e.r.a also makes one that has the same stats, parts, shape and function etc.(P.r.i.m.e.r.a model# Z1). There seem to be others clones that look and work the same, with the same software, but go by different names. Most likely, they are the same. Stay away. Get something else. Research opinions, find something that will last longer and is a normal product that is built to normal standards and has some sort of quality control and will last a reasonable amount of time."

"I've used this product for a year. I use it for making photo CDs and DVDs and giving them to friends and family. It gives a very good result but not professional. People are generally very impressed when I hand them the CD. I print all text with a simple logo, no images. Images print with a grainy appearance.
Using the correct type of CDs is critical!!! They must have a glossy surface. Anything with a dull finish intended for Inkjet printers will give very poor results.
This printer uses a ribbon similar to a type writer ribbon. The ribbons come in 4 colors, but you can only have one ribbon in the printer at a time. This means that a color photo cannot be printed like an inkjet can print a color photo.
This is suitable for small numbers of CDs, but certainly not suitable for high production.
I use this instead of an inkjet because it's smaller and easier to deal with."

I use this for my group's CDs, which we give out for free at shows. Its cheap, and it looks more professional than CD labels. And, the ribbons last longer than other more expensive models."

"Bought this to print labels(simple) for demo music discs. It worked wonderfully-FOR 4 USES, then just stopped working. pc wouldnt recognize it, tried everything I know(and I know pc's), [...] it costs more to ship it back & forth than the thing is worth. Only worked for 2 weeks? Not good. My advice? Try somthing else."
Pros:
Cons:
"This thing totally depends on what you use it for. It's fine for labeling your own CD's and using them around the house or giving them to family, even though the print quality is a little off. But for professional looking CD's or images, buy something else."
"I have used this printer for almost a year now.
It is easy to use for a quick label.
Gone thru about 25 cartridges, of different colors.
Never jammed up or missed areas, best for "dull" surface, or put a blank stick-on label on the CD or DVD first.
I must of got one of the good ones, or some users don’t know how to use it."
Pros:
Cons:
"I've used this product for one month, and it just gave out on me. No warning sign, no error message, no obvious discrepancy. The printer head will move into position, start to print but then stop all the sudden. After using this to print on about 100 cd's (roughly 200 print areas), I've gotta say that I'm extremely unhappy [...] Not to mention the quality of the printing is laughable. I understand that it's a cheap printer, but it can't even print the same chintsy quality on a consistent basis! Some spots get left out at random, other times half of the design is missing. Talk about hit and miss. Please, please, please: if you're reading this and considering purchasing one, spend the extra money for something better. You couldn't even use this for an effective boat anchor. [...]"

Cons:
"it is a good thermal printer for [$]ribbon color doesn't last long at all and the ribbons cost alot but the printer itself is not bad at all."
Pros:
Cons:
"I haven't had any problems since the day I received it. I've printed titles on over 300 DVDs so far. They look very professional and have impressed all my friends and relatives with them. If my machine ever breaks down, I will definitely buy another one."
