"Everyone loves the Weber. It's built from sturdier materials than the other options, has a nice look, and generally good design. But it's overrated. The design "wins" are pretty clear. The large, deep bowl blocks the wind and makes it really easy to light the coals. Use some shredded paper and dry sticks of wood, and the coals will start. No need for lighter fluid. Putting it together was easy. There's onl..." Read Full Review
"I received this grill as a birthday gift in July and have been happily using it ever since, weather permitting.
The ash catcher is very handy, and makes cleaning the grill not such a messy venture. My husband and I love the large grilling surface and the spacious lid. A whole chicken is easily cooked using the indirect heating method. Ribs cook nicely this way, also.
At the moment, I cannot think of any drawbacks. Even the assembly was quick and easy."

Cons:
"I bought this grill in 1994 and I leave it outside-UNCOVERED-and I grill on it weekly. The only things I had to replace on this grill are the cooking grate and the charcoal grate."
Pros:
"in my own opinion i never liked a gas grill. when i used a gas grill the food never tasted as good. so the only thing that i could do is go back to a charcoal grill. i made the right decision going back. the food tastes so much better.
in my own opinion nothing is better then on a nice summer day taking you time and cooking food. my favorite food to cook on a charcoal grill is pork ribs. if you want to make your ribs taste perfect you have to cook them for many hours and never boil them first. in my own opinion boiling them first takes out flavor."
"We are not expert grillers and wanted a charcoal grill that would be easy to use, easy to move and "no fuss." We bought a gas grill two years ago which we have used twice. In our inexperience it seemed to take too long to check the gas, the gas lines, clean out cobwebs if necessary and so on, plus it was much too large for my husband and me. The 18.5" silver grill is perfect and grills food for more than two people, for sure, and would not consider this a "two-person grill" at all. We much prefer using charcoal for a real outdoor flavor. Don't let the size and light weight deter you. It's just what we were looking for. After reading the reviews on Weber products my mission was to find that product at Ace--great people and great service. Ace is the place!"
Pros:
"I have used this grill for 32 years and it has always been outdoors on a covered porch. I have had to replace nothing. The ember grill below has to be turned over about every 5 years. I have never cleaned anything except the outside and, of course, dumping the ash. I scrape the grill and give the coals a good time heating up the grill and then wipe with paper towels.
Weber charcoal grills are a great design and well built. I am now buying another for my summer home which came with the usual worthless grill. I don't expect the present construction will be the equal of my old grill."
"I've had my Weber kettle grill for some time, with no serious wear to the finish.
They're still made here in the US of A.
Now, they're available in "colors".
I find my basic black original quite nice.
Two great accessories that can be added are a charcoal Chimney lighter (lost some arm hair with the lighter fuel approach) and a set of Craftsman BBQ tools.
I found a great way to increase the longevity of one's BBQ tools - take'm off a the grill when you're done and bring them INSIDE the home.
I got my BBQ tools hang'n off the end of one of my workbenches.
You can even get a replacement top grill screen from the Sears stores."
"I had my Weber grill for more than 35 years. We use to grill out every weekend year round. Living in Wisconsin not even the winter could hurt this little charm. I never covered it. I just let it sit out in the snow until the following time I used it. Recently, I decided to give in an get a new one. I really thought there was nothing wrong with the old....just that the kids thought I needed a new one. I didn't think so!What do they know?"
Pros:
"Mostly, I use this grill for "mass grilling" (16 large kosher hot dogs done 8 dogs at a time, 8 large rib-eye steaks done 4 steaks at a time) and freezing. The coals stay hot enough that all of the food grills really well. Even after being frozen, being thawed in the microwave and being warmed in the microwave, the food tastes great.
My only concern was using the grill on my deck, during our ongoing drought. Therefore, I put some water in the clean metal pan underneath the grill each time I use it, so the hot ashes fall into the water, and don't blow around. Clean-up is sort of gloppy, but it's worth it not to burn my house down.
I love charcoal grills, and this one is perfect for me. It's a great grill."
Pros:
"Outstanding product. I have owned Webers for years, this particular model for 3 years now. I grill several times a week, and a chimney is a must have for starting. I have found using a wet/dry vac is the easiest and quickest way to clean this grill. I also smoke a lot, using indirect heating techniques...this grill does an outstanding job doing traditional southern BBQ...absolutely no need for more expensive, less effective smokers. I expect many more excellent years of service from this grill. I too keep it outside in the winter, uncovered and have never had a problem."
