This, the larger version, is better because although still compact it has substantially more capacity -- a larger comforter fits, for example. "I work on these machines two to three days per week. They have constant failure troubles with the water temperature control switch. I have changed out maybe 20 switches since this past August and they continue to fail. I called Whirlpool to ask if they had an ongoing issue with the washer and they didn't know a thing about it. Plan on it to fail if you buy one of these...." Read Full Review

Very energy efficient and low cost operation, too -- or so the documentation says. My last one had a gas dryer and this is electric, so I'll see.
I like that it (still) has dials and buttons, not digital controls, so easy and functional. Yet has enough setting variations to do all washes. Not fancy with a million digital settings and 2-hour cycles like other machines (!), but reliable, sturdy, practical and quick, just what I need.
Good to see Whirlpool did not really change a good product over the years. I hope instead they perfected it; my 1990's model did have 2 or 3 recall notices ('possible fire') requiring repair, which although free was inconvenient to arrange at the time."
