"I liked the fit and support of the waterproof Targhee better than this shoe. This shoe felt wider for the same size. I would like to see stickier soles for both boot models...." Read Full Review
Pros:
"I purchased these boots before a trip to Yosemite last summer. I hiked probably 30 miles within the course of a few days and didn't really break them in beforehand. I was very impressed how they handled on a variety of terrain (dirt trails, rocks both wet and dry, steep grades).
I love how lightweight the boots are, and definitely appreciated this after hiking the Half Dome in a day. Their breathability is great - very little sweating even after long hours of wear in hot conditions. Worn with hiking socks, I suffered no blisters or bruises.
I've worn the boots consistently since I purchased them eight months ago. They've held up really well. My only complaint is that on flat terrain, they tend to pinch the back of your ankle (the tradeoff for great ankle support, I suppose). But I didn't buy hiking boots for walking on flat pavement.
I love my Keens! I also appreciate the muted colors of these boots as they tend to match anything I'm wearing. Really glad I didn't buy the burgundy/green version of this boot even though it was on sale for $30 less."
Pros:
"I tried on virtually every boot for a perfect fit. This boot gives me great ankle support, arch support, and also comfort while scrambling boulders both up and downward. It has excellant traction! We also crossed streams and lakes in them (without my socks) and they dried quickly. I never got hot spots, and do up to 10 miles a day on some steep grades and in rough wilderness terrain.I love the colors! The hooks at the top of the lacing have not held the laces everytime, so a few stops to retie the boots have been my only minor complaint. My shoe inserts fit well, the boot accomodates my thick hiking socks, and I like the roomy toe area. No regrests.I wish, as we approach wet weather that they were waterproof, but I'm giving them a try anyway! I love my boots!"
Pros:
"These boots are amazing. I took a trip out to Colorado for some hiking (which I had never really done in mountainous terrain) and they were perfect. Great support, super-comfy, little/no break-in time. I also wear these when it's raining out and they keep my feet dry (I have not stomped in deep puddles, so I don't know how waterproof they are). They look cute with jeans and khakis. I have the pair with the light blue accents, and they are not "girly" looking at all - they look like hiking boots."

Pros:
"I bought these boots in anticipation of a summer of weekend hikes. The boots feel very stable, have good traction, and fit my toes, arch, and heel very well. I never had any foot problems at all, including when I hiked Half Dome in Yosemite, which was only the second time I wore them. Every part of my body was hurting except my feet! No hot spots at all. They seemed to run about a 1/2 small in sizing, but since I tried them on before I bought them it wasn't a problem."

Cons:
"As with nearly all keen boots, you may have to buy a half size larger than your usual size. I have a bunion that requires a wider toebox to avoid bunion/joint pain, and the Keens are the only shoes that provide plenty of room for the joint to stay stable and pain free. I also have weak ankles which require mid or hightops. However, to avoid blisters, a boot also needs to be able to be tightened across the instep and ankle so your feet do not slip and allow the toes to touch the end of the boot on a decline. This boot perfectly fits the bill, allowing room for the bunion while preventing the foot from sliding around. I took these home from r.e.i. to break them in on my treadmill to see if there are any "hot spots" after a mile of walking on different degrees of incline (wearing my wool blend socks and liners). The Columbias went back, but these Keens did not cause a single hot spot, and felt comfortable from the start. I bought these boots after specifically shopping for non-waterproof boots for packing in dry, warm conditions where waterproof boots would be way too hot/sweaty. Because of the lack of goretex lining, they run a half size larger than the Targhee."
Pros:
"I live in the Colorado mountians and bought these boots for long trail hikes and overnight trips, late summer & fall. These boots have good traction and stability on unstable rock and muddy river crossings, and I love that there is so much room in the foot bed. The foot bed could have a little more cushioning/shock absorption, but that would not stop me from buying this boot again. They do run small, I normally wear a 10, but wear a 10.5 in this."
Pros:
"I hike a steep trail and it ends with a rocky peak - up and then back down. This boot it perfect for that. It was comfortable from the beginning. I've only had it for a few months - but have friends that recommended this product and one avid hiker has had the same two pairs trading back and forth for over 2 years now."
Pros:
"I LOVE these boots. I tried on what felt like hundreds of boots and the instant I put these on, I knew that these were mine! I have a wide foot, and these fit perfectly. I've worn them in slippery mud and all terrain. They've never failed me. I didn't even really have a break in period. They were great from day one. The strap that holds the boot against your heel really keeps the rubbing down and I haven't had any problems with blisters (which is something that I ALWAYS have problems with). So far, so good. I'm blister free!
The mid-height gives great ankle stability when you're wandering around uneven terrain. The sole is comfortable and takes the pressure off of the ball of your foot (where my socks tend to wear holes). It's a great boot for the trail or just everyday wear.
I'm a Keen fanatic because of these."
