Pros:
"Connecting the Canon XHA-1 to new Mac Pro problems are solved by installing the Allegro Fire wire 400 card. The cable 4 pin to 800 port cable will not work with this camera and the new Mac Pro does not have 400 ports. After installing the 400 PCIe card, FCP uploads the video perfectly. A great card to make up for Apple's omission of the 400 ports. Easy to install, comes with easy instructions."
Pros:
"This is the third firewire card I bought, and the first that works perfectly. Worth the price. The company keeps its drivers up to date, and had no problem installing with Win. 7. Highly recommend."
Pros:
"I am not good at opening the computer cover, but for the first time I did it successfully and inserted the FireWire PC card with no issues. Viola, I can connect my Sony IP5 DCR handycam and even make a movie using the CyberLink DVD Suite. I did this all in less than 2 hours with 44 minute video. I love it and life is good
PS: Sony has no idea on how to help me."
"I needed a FW 400 port for my audio interface, and this seemed the most elegant solution. Dropped it into my Mac Pro, and it works like a charm. It's not as fast as FW 800, let alone Thunderbolt, but it's far more cost-effective than buying a new audio interface."
Pros:
"It's a pleasure to be able to add Firewire support to a PC so easily. A fine point: the jacks are installed in a configuration such that plugs don't bump up against the expansion slot frame of the PC."
Pros:
"Plugged it in, turned on computer, everything worked. Can't beat that!
I am using this on a Windows 7 64 machine, using it to run a Nikon 9000 scanner."

"Very easy to install, no need for any driver installation on Mac OSX. It works perfectly on my Mac Pro 8 core Xeon, which is a great computer but with a big weakness about all the 5 firewire ports sharing the same bus... It just could not handle my firewire (400) audio interface together with external HDs!! But now that I hooked the interface on the Allegro everything works perfectly and I am enjoying the power of my system!! I gave it 4 stars only because I find the price to be a bit high for such simple (and old) technology"
